I just hope this month they'll release them. From what I know they should have released them in the previous month but that didn't happen I just hope all of this secrecy will be worth it

This should turn out to be a great tower. I already like it, even when there aren't any official renders! However, it is very thin, so I wonder how they will keep it from swaying too much.

It will have to have a gigantic core compared to it's volume

My guess is there will be a mass damper to minimize core size.

It's extremely thin by itself..It can't have gigantic core because there wouldn't be much space left..Core will take just about 50% of force..Other 50% will be on outer columns and beams..Usually the core takes about 70-80 % of force..That's why you can see thick concrete grid on these renders..Everything will be well connected with huge amount of steel inside the concrete..Expect also incredible strong foundations..

Of course it would work, but it's not practical. Could you imagine? haha!

The cables would have to be anchored quite a distance from the base, however.

So you're saying it'll be a relatively perimeter column focused building like the Twin Towers, right?

The rendering that I've described has finally been released in the WSJ.

Here's a small image. Does anyone have a subscription?

New York Placing Tallest Order

BY CRAIG KARMIN A Los Angeles real-estate company founded by two former Israeli paratroopers and a Drexel Burnham Lambert executive has emerged as one of the country's most active property buyers. Now it is poised to unveil plans for its main showpiece: New York's tallest residential tower.
CIM Group last year snapped up a prized Park Avenue development site in Midtown Manhattan for $305 million, well below the land's value during the boom years. Developers have considered it one of the most attractive sites in the world because of its location at the heart of New York City.
The firm and its partner, ...

Predictions on the penthouse asking price? This building is basically One57 on steroids, and those two penthouses are being shopped around for $98.5 million each.

I doubt we were ever going to get anything but a slender box. They probably wanted to maximize unit square footage, and a square footprint and roof does that far more easily than a round/ovular/uniquely shaped tower.

And quite frankly, this is the type of box that looks damn good, sleek and exceptionally tall.

even a box can be done with a bit with more style. as of now it has nothing but height which is not a novelty in NYC

Boy... maybe they should have kept the rendering to themselves for a bit longer. Not terrible, but for its height it doesn't look very iconic.

Then again it says its an artist's rendering of the building. I'm assuming that this means that it isn't an official rendering and its just meant to give people an idea of what a building of that height would look like.
