Here is the funny thing though. Right now on the webcam the pump from the street seems to go up to the fourth floor - it does't go to that machine on the ground level. So this is sort of confusing me.

How are they going to clean the concrete after construction? It's brand new and it's already stained all over the place.

Do you mean those horizontal lines? They look like they correspond to the internal rebar, I guess they will fade out as the concrete dries out further.

Could it be they're still putting together the pipe system inside of the building? I guess they will use this mobile pump as long as they'll be able to reach the core.

Lazy? ''Also, owners will be able to buy offices below the 34th floor for those who hate to walk/take a Town Car to work.''

Nice article, it's not posted before.

Restaurant on the special terrace? Interesting... I can't imagine where will it be. Ir it expected to be on the ground level?

Most likely, or it will be on the roof of the base. But I don't see that happen.

Restaurant, office, home. You can literally do you daily activities for days on end without even leaving the building!

Concrete Colour

Hello All

I'm a civil engineer and in my experience in concrete restoration, the concrete WILL in fact cure at different rates depending on the thickness. The corresponding colour takes some time to become apparent.

You can see the white bands in the photos above, they likely correspond with the internal reinforcing. The concrete is less thick in these areas, therefore it has cured faster, with less water vapour evaporating at the surface.

I'm not sure if the white bands are the final colour, however you can tell already that as it dries, the concrete comes to a brighter colour than it is currently.

Thanks for the info. Looking back at photos of the rebar in the columns, the bands don't seem to match up with any patterns I see. However, the bands do seem to sorta match the reinforcing ribs on the outsides of the forms. Might just be coincidence. But if it is the forms causing the banding, then perhaps the forms flex/bow outward (due to the weight of the concrete) ever so slightly between ribs, and that affects the thickness of the concrete just enough to affect the rate of curing?

I wonder if the glass will be inset, or completely level with the external columns?

Looking more closely, I'm convinced the banding is caused by the forms:

Happened to be walking by today when they lifted a huge rebar section into place on the east wall - made me late for my meeting, but totally worth it :
