All the details about the structure and sway reduction are in the engineering report submitted to the DOB.

Actually there is quite a lot of floor space.

I thought the same about both Ping An and Shanghai Tower. Both have such massive cores that it appears there is very little usable floor space. Not until you see a floor plan do you realize there is much more usable space than it appears during construction.

It is even less. The core is only 18% of the total floor area (812 vs. 147 m2.)
leaving 82% of the area.

This cant be further from being accurate, you need to take a closer look at the floor plans posted as well as the pictures of what some of the spaces inside will look like. I know looking at the cams it seems like there is no space however when you get down to it there is quite a bit.

Are the columns in the facade more than one meter thick?! That's... quite a bit thicker than I usually see in architecture school, they are obviously necessary though. I can't wait to get to NYC!

But the cores of these towers are used too. It's not that they are useless, there are bathrooms and everything inside.

A number of the lower floors are mechanicals for the the retail building
and are two stories tall...that is why the core is missing openings on the second level (floor 6) above 5...this can be seen in some of the elevations posted earlier...you don't want people stepping into rooms with no floors

What do you mean exactly? Under the blue net are the forms for the facade.
Also notice that the cam is moved upwards.

Looks like they used a little excess architectural concrete on the core
