The ESB is 1,455 ft. including the antenna. And there's no law regarding anything taller (Hello? WTC?). NIMBYs hate anything built after 1940 so their objections are nothing new. NIMBYs hate that the very air they breathe isn't perfumed by Alexander Hamilton's farts.

If they want this building to be at least better than just a dull out of proportion cube they should add a spire on top of it.

From WSJ:

Probably going to have 90 - 100 floors.

EDIT: Thread title should be changed to: NEW YORK | 432 Park Avenue | 411m | 1350ft | Prep
I walked by today and the site was buzzing with activity. I strongly suspect that the developer will acquire Nos. 36 and 48 E57th St., in which case this tower will surpass 1,400 feet.

If this thing will indeed have 12 foot and anywhere from 90 to 100 floors, we could expect something from 1350ft [(90x12)+(90x3)] to 1500ft [(100x12)+(100x3)]...

Okay so yeah, 1500ft is out of the question. So probably 1350-1450. If anyone's wondering where I got the 3 from, that is apparently the average amount of space between floors nowadays. I may be completely off though

This is what is was supposed to look like with the drum-shaped mechanical floors. I suspect that the image released in the WSJ may have been a massing model and that the drums might still be retained.

I actually liked the design they showed without the drums better.

Would anyone be able to make a picture with this, one57 and tower verre?

And I quite like it (with drums one) even though there is very little (none?) details on that render. And I'm sure with detailed cladding it would look even better. I would describe it modern but still "newyorkish". Lets hope they won't go cheep with it and won't resign the braver design.

it needs more refining, maybe a spire ... as it is today on the renders it is ugly as hell.

What about the design with the drum shaped mechanics, enclosed in a cage like structure, he once proposed for the WTC? Imagine what an amazing feature this cage could be, especially decently lit up at night, since this is a residential tower.
