I wonder, though, how high pigeons typically roost in NYC. There must be a height above which they won't want to fly, as it takes a lot of energy. But I suppose the uplifted air running along the edges of skyscrapers might make this a bit easier.
They could put one or two falcon or hawks nest areas on the building ... that would pretty much totally eliminate the pigeon threat. :-)

I agree. For that reason, I believe that what appears to be a ledge is just an illusion, and this building's glass is flush with the facade.

I love the building just off Park with the pyramid crown. It looks great at night when it's illuminated with fluorescent light.

The building with the spire (seen in the wider skyline view) is the Sherry-Netherlands Hotel, located on the northeast corner of East 59 Street and Fifth Avenue. It is across the street to the north of the GM Building (the boxy white vertical striped building, that replaced the venerable Savoy Plaza Hotel that once faced the Plaza Hotel directly across). The Sherry-Netherlands Hotel was completed in 1927. It now houses cooperative apartments.

Anyone have any information on whats being built in the area of the steel beams? People keep mentioning plate girder beams and wonder where they got this information from.

Plaza with free-standing retail building...underneath: parking garage on lowest level and retail support facilities....second level will be retail store space

^ interesting. Thats the first time i saw that picture. Whats that glass box? Looks like the 5th ave apple store a couple blocks away? Don't think it would be another apple store in such close proximity. Cool though.

Yes definitely. That will be a nice retail store.

Don't laugh but i initially thought that glass box was going to be attached to 432 PA from underground and we would see residents pop up & disappear inside the glass box entering & leaving the building.
