If this happens for real, they would probably have to stop construction (again)

Contrary what some of you are saying I still think it was a horrible decision not to use any kind of cladding.

Yes, it might be better-than-average concrete, but a 1400ft concrete tower will still look pretty bad IMO.

I think the concrete will be polished or painted. Can't believe they will leave it like that. Still I couldn't care less about that concrete, much worse thing they did to the design imo by lining glass panels with the columns. That will be much more noticeable than not perfect concrete. Never the less it's still remains one of my favorite projects.

I don't normally get involved in debates on aesthetics. However, I have two points:

1) this concrete isn't regular concrete. It won't look like the Met Life building (formerly the Pan Am building). This is great looking stuff.

2) New York is just getting buildings with plain glass cladding all over the place. They are really getting boring quickly. This will be a nice counterpoint to that. I really don't want to live in a city with nothing but glass skyscrapers.

IMO this building will be a great addition, not only due to its height, but due to its distinctive apparence as well.

Back in the ‘high’ life again! Apartments selling well at 432 Park Ave., which will be the tallest residential tower

Harry Macklowe and CIM Group is developing. Building so tall it needs FAA approval.

By Jason Sheftell / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

"The high life takes on a new meaning at 432 Park Ave., a 96-story residential tower that is set to challenge the Empire State Building as midtown’s tallest building.
Prices at the proposed 1,396-foot tall skyscraper start at $20 million for three-bedroom units with libraries and small terraces. Full-floor penthouses with 360-degree views cost up to $85 million.
“This building is the show- stopper,” said CORE broker Jarrod Guy Randolph, who toured 432 Park..."

"...The Federal Aviation Administration isn’t convinced yet.
Like other skyscrapers, 432 Park will hire an “aviation consultant” to complete a study to prove the building won’t endanger airplanes or helicopters.
The FAA has not yet received an application from the under-construction tower at E. 57th St., an agency spokesman said. But a local real estate expert said it was likely 432 Park will rise to its stratospheric goal..."

It doesn't need to be approved by the FAA first.

Why should it fear airplanes and helicopters, these aren't even allowed so low over Manhattan right?

They are working so fat on this one. I assume it will reach supertall height by the end of the year.

They are already raising the forms for the columns of the new floor.

I think that tomorrow in the morning they will raise the core.

Seems they are really speeding up past this floor.

Yeah, they are definitely moving faster. They have lots of rebar for the next level placed already.

They aren't to one week per floor yet but they are getting close.

As I said, past Floor 7, they will enter a 4 day cycle, as stated by builder37 who posted on here a while ago. Progress should be quick. It should be visible from central park by late summer.

With that pace, we'll be around 750 feet up by the end of the year.
