If you stop moving they should colorize.

No core jump today? What gives? Maybe they have to wait for concrete to cure more?

Everything else seems to be moving very fast. Next level of rebar up and already all exterior forms up and even some decking by it.

I don't believe the core had been poured since the last core pour. The last core pour took place on 3/20, and was raised 3/23. It is possible that a core pour might take place today. If so, then a core raise might take place either late tomorrow, or if work is scheduled for Saturday, then it would rise then.

Observing the events, the core/floor construction is coordinated to keep both elements constructed in step with each other. The core cannot rise too far above the last floor being formed, to keep the concrete placing boom within reach of the floor. Since there are two kinds of concrete being used, the architectural structural concrete being used for the exterior columns and spandrels, and the structural concrete for floor slabs and core, two methods have been employed for placing concrete, using both buckets and the concrete placing boom. Although the column rebar have been placed, and the 56 St exterior climbing forms have been raised, there is still a bit of work required for this new level to be completed. Since the column transition has been completed from 4 to 7 columns on the 57 St side, the new stainless steel climbing forms need to be assembled for that side, and also for the portions of the west and east facades.

They are going to have to raise the 56 st crane very soon as it is now just barely clearing the forms when it swivels...

Yes, it will have to be moved after they complete this seventh floor and raise the forms again.

As predicted, a core pour will take place. As for the 56 St cam, I believe it probably is being relocated, due to the fact that the position it was in previously would not allow viewing the goings on on the highest floor being worked on. At last showing, only what was happening at ground level was visible. No doubt as this building rises, there will be a point where the cameras will no longer be able to show activities of construction, other than viewing upward at the exterior as it climbs.

I must make a correction: I thought that the core would be poured; currently the columns on the 56 St side are being poured.

Right you are, and they are placing the forms on the 57th side.

Isn't there an U/C tower in China (now On Hold because of corrosive concrete) about 500m tall made of concrete? I'm not sure of it but I think so.

MASSIVE new photo update on 432 Park.com by Richard Berenholtz.

Special about these pictures is they have been taken today, 4th of April.
Normally it takes almost a month before pictures are posted.

Enjoy!

Edit: these pictures weren't made today, formwork has climbed a floor since these pictures were taken.

Awesome shots certainly, but why must they be in black and white?

Maybe to give them an ancient look.

Some B&W pics would be OK, but I'd prefer mostly color photos. With just B&W there is a loss of information for posterity, and a loss of some of the experience of what it would have been like to be on the site while the building was constructed, which will be more appreciated decades from now and beyond.

I was wondering how much of the square footage of each floor plate is taken up by the core, so I measured the blue prints. I was surprised to see that the core takes up only about 18.3% of each floor. I had the core at 1,602 sq ft and the entire floor at 8,742 sq ft. This is for the floors with a full core. It seems that there are only two elevators near the top, and on these floors some of the core area is re-claimed for other uses.

Of course, the 24 columns also take up some of the available square footage for living area and mechanical space.

Is this the transition from 4 columns to 7?

It seems so, it's on the 57th side and it's the newest floor below the current one.

What exactly are they pouting today. It looks like the outer beams but didn't they just pout that? They can't possibly be pouring the next level yet can they?

I'm confused.
