So as soon as the current floor has been poured, the pace should shoot up and this building should rise very quickly than.

Well, we know from observations because the transitional element on the 57th street side will be complete. All the columns will be ready for the monotonous process of constructing the remaining floors, no more specialized work will need to be done and they should have the process down to a cycle which speeds up work.

Also, Builder37, a forumer associated with the project also mentioned that after Floor 7 they will enter a 4-day cycle for each floor and eventually even move into an alleged 3-day cycle nearer the top.

Some pictures from today, Sunday, April 14th:

Interestingly there is no walkway on the tie in to the building. So the crane operators still have to climb the whole way.

Just gorgeous concrete.

Above is something fascinating. Note how the high end white concrete and the regular grey concrete just mix together looking towards 57th street.

Here you can see it even more.

Sorry for those who don't like this building but I can tell it is going to be a stunner. Some buildings look way better in pictures than in real live - like WTC1. But some buildings look way better in real life than in pictures. Well, this building looks great in pictures and spectacular in real life!!

Now the building is tall enough that when you look up you can't really see the core.

From the 57th Street side.

Very annoyingly they put up a big black wooden barrier so you can't see in to where the concrete is now exposed.

You can clearly see the transition from 4 columns to 7

Thanks. Yeah, the concrete mix is very interesting.

I guess they first pour the good concrete and then when they go to areas that require just regular concrete they don't even bother to clean out the concrete pumping system as the good concrete doesn't do any damage to the areas where they don't really care about the concrete anyways.

BTW, does anyone have a chart on how long it takes concret to set - ie, something like:

12 hours 50% of ultimate strentgh
1 day 90% of ultimate strength
2 days 94% of ultimate strength

I've always been curious about this.

Wow, the transfer area is huge!
I suppose it does need to support 400m of building on top of it though!

From some construction pictures where we saw the reabar, I expected that the entire facade floor was with some kind of super beam, now I can see they let some small windows.
