The height of 440 is still uncertain, but from all we know it should be arround 433 meters, which is 15 meters more than the roof height of 1WTC

Please note that the design on this diagram is outdated, 440 now has a different design but iirc the height should remain the same, although as I said, all is still uncertain

It is a miracle of engineering, though it is not something completely new, just look at Dubai

its still skinnier and taller than all of those (excluding burj but thats not skinny at all) and it is in a very dense area. very hard to get materials to build it etc...) a true marvel

CIM closes on Turnbull & Asser building near Drake site
November 11, 2011 02:30PM

By Katherine Clarke

CIM's principal of investments Charles Garner and the
townhouse property at 42 East 57th StreetDeveloper CIM Group has paid British retailer Turnbull & Asser $32.4 million for a townhouse at a strategic site near the Drake Hotel, according to public records filed with the city today.

The five-story, 8,580-square-foot building, located at 42 East 57th Street, contains four commercial condo units. Turnbull & Asser, a high-end clothing store, has owned and occupied the whole building since 2008, when it purchased it from antiques dealer Paul Schaffer for $31.5 million. Turnbull & Asser has dressed figures such as Prince Charles, Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and John Kerry.

The acquisition may prove to be important for CIM and Harry Macklowe, the developers of the Drake Hotel site at 440 Park Avenue, which may be the most valuable development site in New York City. As The Real Deal previously reported, Macklowe, who purchased the site for $418 million in 2006, has been eyeing the Turnbull & Asser building and another at 48 East 57th Street.

Macklowe's original plans called for 150 feet of frontage on 57th Street, occupied by low- and mid-rise commercial properties. Initially, however, he was only able to buy four of the seven buildings he needed for the project to go ahead as he had envisioned. But Macklowe purchased 46 East 57th Street in December for $42.5 million. Now that he's acquired the Turnbull & Asser building, only 48 East 57th Street remains out of his grasp. Number 48 is owned by high-end watchmaker Jacob & Co., which has a store in the premises.

CIM reportedly offered to move Turnbull to another townhouse on the edge of the Drake Hotel site and it seems like they may have taken the company up on the offer. Another deed filed with the city this morning shows the transfer of 50 East 57th Street, a 14,535-square foot, seven-story townhouse, to Turnbull for $31.5 million.

Both Macklowe and Turnbull declined to comment on the acquisition. CIM did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Great news. Now we need the Jacob & Co out of this area, so that the company has throughout this site for your project.

CIM would like to have Jacob's building but doesn't need it.

It's supposed to be around 1350 feet (411 meters) slightly lower than 1WTC.

Unless that changes, which would be nice

Yeah should be over 100 floors, floors would have to be over 4m tall for it to only have 90 floors.

well to give you an example of tall but not a lot of stories for a residential building; carnegie at 1005ft is only 76 floors.

Well if I remember right One57's floor heights are just under/are 4m, so even if this building has 4m high floors it should have at least 100 floors if not more

yes that is true IF it was made of all floors. the lobby is probably higher than the average floor. not to mention mechanical floors.

Yeah thats true but even with them higher it should still be over 100 floors. I think we should just wait for more information on this instead of guessing
