They didn't confirm anything like that. The only thing we know is that it'll be at least 1300 feet tall

Passed by today. Excavation isn't very advanced yet. At the deepest it seemed to be about a story down (about 10ft), but most of the plot is still around street level. As for the townhouses that are set to be demolished seems 2 of the 5(correct?) have already been taken down.

Looks like the classic box render might not at all be obsolete

Btw, it's so quiet in the proposed section now that Bob's in jail

Thanks for these links. Got quite a bit of new (to me) information.

Just in case the text will be removed:

CIM Group to develop $1 billion residential tower in New York
Published: 24-Oct-2011

CIM Group, a US-based real estate company, has announced plans to build the tallest residential tower in New York city that will entail an investment of $1 billion.
The 432 Park Avenue tower will be constructed at the site of the Park Avenue development site in Midtown Manhattan. In 2010, CIM Group acquired the site for $305 million.

Designed by Uruguayan-born architect Rafael Vinoly, the 400m tower which will house condo and retail spaces. The plan calls for 128 condos, which will have a height of 12 feet. The site will also see 5,000 square feet driveway, which will be partially covered; private dining and screening room as well as golf training facilities.

CIM is likely to raise about 70% of its funding, which amounts to $700 million, by means of loan for constructing the residential tower.

It's Official, $1Billion Tower To Rise On Park Avenue
The site of the former Drake Hotel, recently named the most valuable development lot in the city, will be home to a 1,420-foot tall residential tower, the tallest in the city.

According to the Wall Street Journal, CIM Group and Harry Macklowe plan to erect a slim condominium and retail complex designed by Uruguayan-born architect Rafael Vinoly on the 440 Park Ave site. The tower will boast 128 units with 12-foot high ceilings.

The $1 billion project, at newly addressed 432 Park Avenue near 56th Street -- recently changed from 50 East 57th Street -- will included a 5,000-square-foot partial enclosed driveway, golf training facilities and private dining and screening rooms. Macklowe has no equity in the mega-project, but has remained involved in the decision making.

CIM is confident it will soon close on a $700 million construction loan, with the balance of construction costs self-financed. The private equity firm has $9.5 billion under management, and its Urban Real Estate Fund has an annual return of 7.4% compared to a 20% annual decline for similar funds.

This tower would fit in well on Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road or in the Marina tallest block. The design is just too plain and unimaginative. It's height is the only thing impressive about it.

Agreed. I haven't read every page of this thread but I imagine that is a fairly common argument.

It's not that I think that the design is ugly, just very very plain. I would prefer it to be about 500 feet shorter if it's going to look like that.

Someone posted not too long ago that this thing should be called 370 Park Avenue, and the guy above me is saying it's 432m. Stop. It's address has nothing to do with it's height. It's by sheer coincidence that it's height might be the same as it's address. 432 Park Avenue is the building's address. It's height will be anywhere from 411-433m tall.

Even then, America doesn't use Metric, so by you guys' logic, this thing should be called 1350 Park Avenue or 1420 Park Avenue.
