A couple of strange things about the windows. Note that the glass placement is very irregular. I wonder why they already have it in some places and not in others.

More importantly, why is the glass flush with the exterior of the building in some places and and several feet inside on other floors? What is that about?

Again, note how the lowest floor with glass is flush but the next floor with glass has it indented.

the one row of sunken in windows is gonna be one of those little things that bug me a lot. especially on such a minimalist design.

I'm pretty sure they are doing testing with windows right now to make sure there is no errors

Cool picture, since a long time we haven't seen the building from above.

I am not sure if it is the first mechanical floor with the "drum" And I don't know if it is coincidence, but what would be that white, rounded thing that surrounds the core?
Could it be some element embedded in the concrete to later anchor the circular walls of the drums? Or is just a any other thing that randomly get that rounded form?
Pity that the picture doesn't have a higher resolution.

From the Park Ave camera, the building has dwarfed the neighboring building at 56th and Madison.

The image of the 57th. St. camera has become pretty blurred and dark, I think due to the glare of the Sun. Plus that angle doesn't really show anything interesting.
I think it is time to move the 57th st. Camera to a higher location, and let us see what's happening at the top again. The way it is know, the camera has become almost worthless.

I'd wager that that's a form for the drum. Too much of a coincidence that they're starting to do the mechanical floors and that round part has suddenly appeared. I've been curious what it will look like when they build that part, and looks like we're about to find out.

The recessed windows are on the "lounge" levels, and they're going to stay that way. I'm also a little bothered by the asymmetry of that, but at least those rows are going to be below the plateau, so we won't see them except up close.

Once it is completed, I don't think the building will be hidden because of it's tall height.

I wonder if the "open" mechanical floors are not really open at all, but just appear to be because the glass is recessed.

They are open, The whole point of those, is to decrease the wind loads.
Anyway, in the renders, it is clearly show that they are open.

Probably nowhere else more to the point than here.

Have they removed the covering from any of the windows yet? In the past few pictures I could only spot ones that were covered. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

I like this design. I think it's bold. Why copy the recycled Asian towers? This is just what Midtown needs.

Yes and No...
This was discussed to some degree several months ago...in looking at the plans the open windowless terraces on the two story mechanical floors ALTERNATE sides of the building...in looking at this in greater detail..it is now apparent that one side is windowless and the other side has RECESSED windows... Flush windows are identified as WW-1...recessed windows WW-2. For example on the 75-76 mechanical level, the windowless area is on the WEST side of the building but then on the next 2 story mechanical level, 86-87 (these exact floor number may have changed) the windowless terrace is on the EAST side of the building. In the drawings you can see that the windows labeled WW-2 are only on the mechanical floors and are more heavily shaded indicating they are recessed.
So each of the mechanical floors will be a combination of open windowless terrace on one side and WW-2 recessed windows on the other, alternating side of the building, east to west, with nine residential floors between each segment.
This is how I read the plans.
If I get a chance I will post illustration later.
