Actually, it is the opposite, steel buildings are generally quicker to build than concrete ones. That is because in a steel buildings, the pieces are already done, all you have to do is put them on place, while in a concrete buiding you have to do the rebar, the formwork, then pour the concrete and wait for it to cure.
But you are right that the simplicity of this building made it much easier and faster to build. The formwork is the same for all the columns and the rebar is prefabricated. Also, they must have a pretty good coordination of all the tasks.

It is still far from 200 meters, that building behind it, in 57th&1st picture, 590 Madison or IBM Building, is 184 meters and is still a lot taller than 432 Park.

Although if they maintain this speed, they could reach 200 meters by november.

I would say that it is about 130 meters now.

Love the speed. This thing will blow past the green and black glass building to the west of it in the next two to three months.

I wonder if this is visible at all from Central Park yet?

It's a bit above the "black building", maybe a core jump or two.

Since the Franklin National Bank building sits at 120M high, I'm going to guesstimate that 432 is sitting at about 125M.

If you want to be obsessive about it, it's approximately the 1,300th highest building in the nation.

The height to width ratio of this building is insane, I have doubts that in the event of another hurricane the structure shall be stationary. Whenever the building meets it's end I fear it won't be planned. Then again maybe this tower is very much stronger and more sturdy then it looks. Also, is it just me or are the floors very sparse? As in looking at the number of floors relevant to it's height it would appear each floor would have a much taller roof than average.

Park Avenue cam is back, and it finally shows the top of the Franklin building (450 Park).

I wish that they would occasionally zoom out the Park Avenue view so we could see the whole building.

Morning view shows the perimeter is about as high as 450 Park:

Only 3.5 times higher and it's finished!

True, but 432's floors are only about 21% the size of Ping An's.

59th Street cam's screwing up again, but I was able to see that the North forms have begun being lifted. I'd expect them all to be all the way up a little after noon.

All cams seem to be down at the moment :-( Sucks, I think they are going to pour the floor today and I was looking forward to watching it.

Now I get it. Did the old World Trade Center rise like this too?

56 Leonard is going at 1 floor per month. So sad. At least it's going to get built. Speaking of 56 Leonard, does anyone have a link to the thread?

No, the original 1WTC was very advanced for its time, using steel and concrete as well.

Cams are back up and there is no visible work going on today. Ughhh. Just when they were flying.

Maybe they are giving the construction workers and end of August break on the weekends. If so, I kind of understand even though I'd like to see the fast pace be kept up.

You're right. When it's alone like this it kind of gives off that Ghost Town vibe.

A whole strip of black netting has been removed on the Park Avenue side though.
