I guess that those buildings are located between 6th and 7th avenues.

I never realised how much this tower has grown in the past month or so though! To say that it could be as tall if not taller than Carnegie Hall by Christmas is insane!
Yes, I know, what I meant is that it will rise over that building from the perspective of 57th&1st apartment. Now more than half of 432 Park is obscured by 950 3rd Ave.

They are already placing rebar columns, we can expect a new core rise by tuesday or wednesday max.

what's the width of this building?
and what are the heights of the floors? both floor-ceiling and floor-floor?

I'm actually staying between Park and Lexington on 56th.
I can try to get any photos, if there's anything anyone would like me to capture.

* my window is facing the street though, not Park Ave.

The floor to floor height is 15 feet and 6 inches or 4,75 meters. Here, I have a plan showing this stuff:

As to the width, there was a plan showing it posted earlier in this thread but I forgot to save it to my comp, but I believe the width was like 93, 94 or 95 feet, which would be 28-29 meters

Here's a floorplan of floor 9, which of course has the same measurements of the other floors.

It shows, like Kanto said, it's 93,6 feet or 28,5 meters

To think this about the length of a basketball court is staggering.

This tower should have been built in the old style given the heritage they shamefully destroyed. This tower will be an eyesore soon enough and people will look wonder why we are building like the 70s in 2013.

So 70s is too out of date for 2013, but they should instead build like it's from an even earlier time?

The webcam website has the time lapse all the way until April 2013.

Not a big deal, I actually like the vimeo one because you can pause it and observe the construction site at whatever time frame you please.

On the other hand, if the renders are correct, an open air terrace/mechanical floor should be coming up soon.

Would you mind elaborating for me, cause I see nothing Gothic in this at all?

I also like 432 Park better because it is being built much faster and without all the interference of bureaucrats like the Port Authority. That's how architectural icons should be built, based on the architect's vision, and not subject to constant butchering by bureaucrats! So the actual vision of the architect will be the final product!
You're basing an architectural comparison in part on the unfortunate but very real politics behind the location of one property? The WTC site is highly unique and both required and deserving a some extra scrutiny. I agree it's been a long and wasteful process but that's a seperate issue when comparing final designs of two structures, no?

Also, there's more to 432 than simply the architect's vision, because this one received heavy input and direction from the developer. Rare are the days when the architect's vision is wholly conceived and realized independently.

Quote:
I am wondering, I know it will be residential, but due to it's huge height, will it have any kind of observation deck? I suppose not due to it's function?
Not happening. You don't build a home for the super-super wealthy and then invite Joe and Jane Tourist to roam the grounds.

This I'm most anxious to see, as it will begin to define the segmentation of the building and it's visual impact. Very curious about how open those will feel.

Interesting view Monday evening. We'll see how long this stays put like this.

59th St. cam is down now

Yesterday, a floor slab and the core was poured, and I suspect that a core form rise will happen today. In addition, the next floor's formwork was being placed the last time the 59St. cam was operable yesterday afternoon. But, because of the 59 St cam down, the progress is not viewable as of now. And, why was the Park Avenue cam tampered with? OK, I see the new windows that were placed, but other than that, the current view doesn't inform the viewer of any other progress.

Let's hope that these problems get corrected. Soon.
