It's too thin to be a thumb. I'm not saying I like this tower (even though I do), I'm just saying that 30 St. Axe (I'm not sure of the name) in London or Torre Agbar look like thumbs.

Using Kanto's height chart, Forum's rendering, some rudimentary geometry, and a pinch of Photoshop, I took a stab at projecting the size of the hole in the sky 432 will fill...here's what I came up with:

...and a little closer:

Btw I wonder if these cranes will be the tallest cranes ever in NYC ( or even in the US ) when the tower is topped out. They should be a good 450m to the tip. And all the WTC's and the Seras Tower had their cranes on top of the building.

I'd like to see the faces of some out of town people who have no clue about this project when they see it for the first time.

They'll be like, "Oh my gosh! What is that building?" It'll be like it popped up.

And I don't think 432 Park Avenue is THAT transparent.

84 divided by 14 is 6. 6 sections of 14 floors (minus mechanical equals 12). 12 times 6 (windows per floor) equals 72. 72 times 6 equals 432 windows per section. 432 times 6 equals 2592. 2,592 windows plus the 6 on each side of mech floors (3 per floor) times 4 (four sides) equals 24. 24 times 6 equals 144 windows. 144 plus 2592 equals 2736. There are 2736 windows on 432 Park Avenue.

As for the other five floors, I think the bottom section only has 5 floors.

Not counting the open MEP floors, I got 1,800 from the SSP diagram. 15x6 for the bottom level, and 12x6 for the top 5. Multiply all that by 4 and you'll get 1,800.

If there is one tower where you could do the count by yourself it has to be this tower. I come to 1896, 89 floors, take 10 mech floors so 79, 6 windows per floors so 79 x 6 = 474, and that 4 sides so a total of 1896. Of course this isn't exactly right because the base is different but it is close.

Me too. If the SSP diagram is right, then I think I've got it.

But I answered it first, SO I get a prize.

It didn't say I had to answer it correctly.

Are not windows.
These are transparent walls.

Also, the windows are about 3.2m wide, and the columns are about 1.33m wide
Assuming the beams are the same width, the windows are about 3.4m high, so presumably the actual windows are a 3.2m square, and the bits on the bottom are 3.2m x 0.2m to fill in the rest.
The building will be 90 windows high, and is 6 windows wide, so ignoring the base (6 floors), and taking into account the mech floors, there will be 6 wide x 12 high x 4 sides x 6 blocks = 1728 windows with a surface area of 17,700 m^2, or 1.77 hectares, or 4.37 acres of glass!
Ignoring the top and the base, the cladding consists of 51.6% concrete, 39.1% windows, 2.4% window sills, and 6.9% empty mech.
I sort of answered that at the start of the month
