Btw, even I didn't realize it would be this fast but it actually already surpassed World One in the race for worlds tallest.

It all would depend on how it's done. Those towers in Dubai feature gaudy, comical crowns stuck on top of the structure, often with little architectural connection between elements. Costume jewelry. If 432 did something much more understated, say a 1-storey solid band of concrete with a horizontal feature to indicate the capping of the structure, that wouldn't come close to Dubai levels of tackiness but would give the building, IMO, a more comprehensive design.

But again, that's just my opinion.

You went to New York? When? Was it fun? Were all the buildings really tall?

I heard rumors that 432 Park has a parapet. But the renderings reject that idea.

July 2011 and July 2013. It was an incredible experience. In person, some buildings look much taller than expected while others appear shorter.

Yeah, like the Time Warner Center. It looks more dominant in Brooklyn or the Bronx than it does when you're one block from it.

1 WTC? I have a confession to make. I've never been on the World Trade Center Site. The nearest I've ever been to it is Chinatown. That's because there's really no need to go there; I don't work on Wall Street or anything. I know it's surprising that I have never visited my favorite tower, which I can basically seen outside my window. I should be ashamed of myself.

If I lived in NYC, my time on SSC would be very limited.

I'm looking at going back several times next summer.

Shame on you no, I have heard more of members who live in north Manhattan and barely come in Downtown. As you say, there is no need to go there.

I want to say Vertical Gotham's only visited the new site once, and he lives in the Upper East side.

Once you get used to it, you can see pretty buildings AND go to skyscraper websites. On your iphone (if you have one). Tons of people use their phones while driving, eating, going to the bathroom, etc. in New York.

We're on the 444th page! I just noticed that! If you take pics next year, post them on SSC!

Does he go to 432 Park?

Does anyone here live in Lower Manhattan?

I'd be in Central Park doing 3 of my favorite things:

1) Looking at the skyline.
2) Challenging random people to wrestling matches.
3) Checking out all the hot girls in bikinis.

Wow. I just found out 2 people on the site were guys. And I never knew there was an emoticon for checking girls out.

Eventually, your neck's going to get sore. I learned that a long time ago.

And, I mean, New York's a weird city, but I'm not sure if everyone wants to wrestle some random guy.

Who says I'm not a girl?

432 Park looked crazy tall when I saw it over 2 months ago. It already looked incredibly tall.

I was kidding.

You scared me for a second.

432 Park Avenue could basically top out right now. At this moment. It's so unproportional you'd think it's close to topping out already.
