Yes those models are nice!

Two things....

1) looks like there will be glass in the gaps where the lights will be. Maybe those glass will be set further in while there will be a narrow walkway outside of the glass to walk around.

2) I was under the impression the glass cube retail portion will look like the apple store. Glass all around and top. In the display it shows there is more of a building on top of it.

Apparently there are 20 apparent floors from the ground to the first MEP level instead of 15, as the SSP diagrams all show. We are higher than we thought. 36 apparent floors up for the perimeter, and 37 for the core.

I have no idea how that can be possible.

Yea I figured it was a bit far fetched. Lol

Has anyone confirmed or any insight if those gaps will be open air decks or windowed? Or if they will be decks at all for residents personal viewing?

Those gaps are at least 20 ft high floor to ceiling and it would be waste if the only purpose is for the lighting.

From the model it does kind of appear to me that they could be windowed.

Having them filled as opposed to open-air would seem to defy their stated purpose of allowing wind to flow through the building...

As the floor slab was poured yesterday, and with today's core form rise, what I believe are the outrigger wall forms are being erected below the future mechanical floor slab.

432 PA is now (seemingly) starting to dominate the skyline

^ That is not the reason there is no skyscrapers in between midtown and downtown. Skyscrapers are built all over the place and with different ground conditions worldwide. The reason has more to do with NIMBYs. zoning, etc.

Today the Nimby's and Zoning would not allow development of skyscrapers in between. But in the olden days b4 Nimby's and zoning, new dev followed the $$. it was about economics and they built where the $$ is & that was midtown and not in Soho & the 5 points then. Like the article I posted above which I tend to agree with.

Some interesting boxes built in each corner, again assume this has to do with the MEP floor configuration.

To clear up the number of floors there are, I have counted them on using pictures, plans, and the cams on the website and I counted 34 rows for the perimeter. The highest attachment for the 57th crane is on row 27 and the highest attachment for the 56th crane is on the 28th row. The attachments for the 57th crane are every 6 or so rows and the attachments for the 56th crane are every 3 or 4 rows.

OK, so now it's time for this. ... buildings in New York it has just passed.

(Not sure why 750 7th Ave is there, but I'm too lazy to deal with it.)
