Are these parts for a 3rd crane?

they're a different colour, and the metal beams which make up the frame look thinner

Maybe 210m.

As I mentioned above these look to be more part of a boom there are pins to join them together at the corners

57th Street crane needs to jump. 56th one is several metres higher at the moment.

Will these crane parts be for a crane at the base to build the "apple store"?
Or will this crane actually go on top of the tower?

It should be building that area up. It's the only part of the site that is still below street level.

Didn't someone say a few months (maybe weeks) ago that they were going to drop a Potain crane in the core that would result in the two favcos going. Sort of makes sense seeing as the weight the two cranes would have on the building as it gets higher would create tremendous pressure. And besides that's an awful lot of crane sections all the way to the top.

These new sections don't look strong enough to support 400 meter of crane. But I guess we'll see soon enough.

I don't think the part below grade needs such a large crane to be build, definately not the Apple store.

Yes. I said this.

One favco will go after this is up, then the smaller favco will go at 900'

Do you know how they will mount the new crane? Will the base be at the top of the core or will the crane structure run down through the core to the bottom of the building?

Are you a builder of this site?

At the moment they seem to be stacking crane parts on top of one another in 2 rows

They are assembling sections of the crane tower now on the ground, Unless they are going to lift to the top this new crane tower in big sections then this might be for the corner retail building we should know by the end of the day

They have lifted the crane to the top of the highest permieter floor. The three sections were lowered into the perimeter on the 56th street side of the building. You can see the top of it on the 53rd street cam.
