Robert, do we know the cladding on this yet? If this thing is a cement box with windows I agree that is is quite boring, but if the whole thing is clad in glass with the breaks in between, I think that there will be a sort of simplistic beauty about it.

this tower is nothing special. only the sophisticated would look beyond the insignificant factor of height and realize that this development is an architectural failure.

Seems that this thread is full of typical women..It's only important how it looks..Even if it has something special that others don't, it doesn't matter because it's ugly..

what "specialty" does this tower have? dubai already has plenty of thin and tall residential towers. the only positive aspect this tower possesses that the towers in dubai do not is the fact that it is being built based on market demand, not on the desire to make up for the possession of small genitalia.

Who cares about Dubai..We're talkin' about New York here..And being so thin and tall is new and different for New York..It's going to stand out..People will walk by, looking up and wondering how powerful this thing is..So thin but yet so tall, fearless and dominating..Challenging the laws of physics..It's the proof what human brain and knowledge can make..Maybe it's not pretty but it's freaking impressive..

Are people seriously concerned about quality of materials here? Early estimates put the price tag on this building according to the Wall Street Journal article at at least $1B.

Plus, this building will be priced similarly to One57, with the cheapest condos starting in the several millions, and up to I would assume over $100M for upper floor units. In order to do that the quality of materials will absolutely HAVE to be the best money can buy in order for the developer to be able to net the amount they have in mind for the condos.

I'm not crazy about what we've seen from the design so far, but we've basically seen photo copies of extremely rough sketches, which basically just mass the building. With high quality materials this could be quite nice. I'm starting to warm to it a bit.

100 Bishopsgate is a bad tower. It's a short, fat box.

In my little village, i wouldn't like to have this horrible tower ...
I never understand people who prefer quantity instead of quality.

I agree. In my opinion, a building so tall and so thin with about 400 meters, makes it incredible. Moreover, within the density of Manhattan.

Many people criticized the Beekman Tower, One 57, but after its construction, the same people changed their minds.

Of course, the outside could be better, but the images that came out did not clearly show us how it goes.

I've seen the same renderings as everyone else yet I'm also starting to warm on this one. The more I think about it, the more I hope this tower will give off a little Richard Meier-esque lightness and sophistication, providing a 'soft' yet marked contrast to the surrounding buildings.

If this tower is build, I think most people who said this is ugly, renege their opinion, because this would be also a landmark in the skyline and over the years everyone would love this just like they did with the twin towers.

you know what this tower should be built in a neo gothic or beaux-arts style that would be badass.

Let's hope not. I'm not waiting for another smaller Mecca clock tower.
