That's a shame about your view of the Chrysler building /: I guess you're just as to where you live!

And hardly uninspired with it being a slight modern take on Art Deco, but I guess that is your opinion, and honestly it seems to frame ESB well

Cracking shots though! Crazy to think it's gonna be around 170m tall than the GE building and that is quite a dominant building in that shot!

I can't really complain because the view is still great, but I thought that it was funny and people were just comparing the two.

For my part though, 432 really has nothing on Chrysler except for height.
And the height was achieved through brute force engineering. Throw as much high strength concrete as you can at it and then you still need dampers to make it work. Not just one, but two dampers at that.

that's a shame, though this shot does show just how glassy the tower will be once the coverings are removed

I suspect even Vinoly's mother would prefer a view of the Chrysler building over 432 Park ave.

Vinoly's mother would be living 2 houses next door and would have a perfect view of both!

If anyone is ever confused about the floor count, look at 59th street cam and the black steel beams that connect the 57th street crane to the building go through the 33rd floor.

(Note: this picture is not up to date. EDIT: Actually, it is up to date, at least when I posted this.)

It's a shame that so little people can see the good aspects of this building. They're blinded by the idea that 'simple is bad' which is a total shame. The framing around the windows is sleek and the grid facade is cool and modern, not to mention the interior. The mech floor openings also enhance the height which is groundbreaking for its width. And you won't see individual windows this big on any other skyscraper, either. I hope more love is built for this as it progresses because I truly believe this will deserve it.

I think you're over-simplifying the opposing perspective. I can appreciate what the architect is doing without needing to like the building, and sometimes 'simple' can be too simple.

I wouldn't fret. No need for universal agreement here.

The other uninspired new tower just missed the ESB, but this one is right on the Chrysler :-(

Oh well, at least you'll have a much more interesting and fancier looking skyscraper to look at in the future, right?

Surprisingly they are working on site today. If you look really close from the 53rd or 59th Street cam, you'll get a really nice view of some fog.

They are lifting materials via the red crane though, so something is getting done up there, though I know not what.

I almost made my avatar the Chrysler Building's spire yesterday because it looks like a Festivus rod.

I think they rose the forms for the side walls today, yes?

Looks like they may well be back at work on Thursday. They have really picked the pace back up in the past few weeks.

I like the height that 432 will be in the future. It will seem taller than 1WTC. But officially, it is smaller.

If anything will make this one seem taller, then itīs skinniness or how it dominates itīs neighbors. But i doubt the 10m which are apart (roof height) between 1WTC and 432 will be really that remarkable that it will make it seem taller. Also, 1WTCīs spire has a massive effect on itīs vertical appeal.
