Yep it's old buildings at 116th street and Park in Harlem. Think it's a gas explosion

Thousands of people die every day in Africa due to starvation, and yet if I were to post that in here, people would be blasting me for goung of topic, and no one would probably care, so in that case why is this different?

If You want to talk about it post a topic in the New York Forums.

Whoa. Trump looks unreal in those first two shots. Like the obelisk from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I'm not too fond of 432 Park Avenue's design, a bit too plain and uninspired imo. That said, it surely will be a very strong presence in the skyline height-wise and might serve as a great silhouette in future sunset/dawn shots.

When the sun sets behind it it's extremely dark and looks just like the obelisk.

Funny I don't think it's uninspired. Simplistic maybe but not uninspired

More people are killed every day from despots, dictators, douchebags, thugs terrorists than from starvation.

Very Tasty

I went on the marketing/offering presentation a few months ago and get updates from them from time to time. I though that you would like this. The time-lapse video at the end is VERY COOL. ENJOY!

The overall shape is certainly quite plain.

However the texture is far more complex than most other new towers in NYC or even the rest of the world. Most towers are now all glass or nearly entirely glass with some metal framing. It is the towers that deviate from glass cladding that I find most interesting.

432's concrete provides a texture that differs from the sterile hardness of glass. The inset gap around each window will play with shadows and give the building a three dimensional look, despite being a completely vertical facade. White concrete provides contrast against the gray glass in a manner that is relatively uncommon. Combined with the open mechanical floors, the finished product will seem intricate rather than bland.

In other words, despite being a plain rectangle filled with repetitive squares, there is still a lot of detail compared to most new towers.

Like the already mentioned Trump tower, which is in my New York top 3.

I'll have to wait and see the finished building then. I'm not ashamed to stand corrected in my final verdict. Hell, I even hope that this will be the case because I love New York and of course I'm rooting for its biggest projects to do the overall skyline justice. It's just that until now the exterior design seemed very underwhelming to me. But it could still turn out to be absolutely amazing. And even if I can't get myself to love it I could still see myself using it as a backdrop for certain pictures in the future.

It's one of those designs that looks shit from day one until the very last second when it turns out amazing.

The simplicity of the facade, and the basic geometric design, only work when the thing is finished. Because the repetition is an integral part of the structure's balance and overall tone.

Have patience. It will look glorious when topped out. Not just because the height is impressive but because the design requires it be free of scaffolding and lifts and other clutter.
