Hi All

I've put the updated timelapse to music. It's inspired by a wonderful old Warner Bros cartoon called "Rhapsody in Rivets" (1941) - it's a hoot!

Hope you ENJOY.

Very nice. Well they clearly have the wide shots on the webcams. (See 3:01 and 3:44 on the video.) They're just not showing them to us. Party poopers.

... and since they won't show us the wide view, I'll take inspiration from their overly saturated white image from last week and show you what the wide views from the webcams would look like (a la a half'assed Photoshop job).

Lets just hope the building doesn't come crashing down at the end! I have seen the original cartoon many times over.

That pic will be a money shot once 432 PA is completed with the Empire State Building and the World Trade Center in the background.

Construction Update: 432 Park Avenue

The latest photos of 432 Park Avenue show the tower’s core about to breach the 800 foot mark; with 600 feet to go, the skyscraper is already making a significant impact on the skyline, and it’s difficult to imagine just how tall the building is going to be.... (read more in link)

Viñoly's Skyscraper Museum lecture has a lot of interesting details and is definitely worth watching now that it's online.

One highlight: we now know that the "apple store" cube is, except for two floors of retail/offices at the bottom, strictly to house mechanical elements like the cooling towers.

I love this one! Looks like 432park is staring at the ESB and 1WTC and saying "I'm coming for you".

It's going to be an amazing building !
And the main reason that it's going to stand out is the amazing hight / slenderness ratio... And the fact that it's in the middle of New York-> The Mother of all skyscraper cities... And that it'll be the tallest in there (by roof hight).

My most anticipated skyscraper and supertall of all in the world, despite that it's not the tallest in the world. (it's what I look for the most every time I visit Skyscrapercity)... It's just so funky and cool. Simple yet elegant design... Can't wait completion...

If skyscrapers had a mind of their own I bet One57 is having an "Oh ****" moment thinking "Damn 432 Park, has been taking its vitamins." One World Trade will soon think the same. Love the progress of this one, time sure does fly.....

I get all warm and giggly when I hear and see that this is only halfway done. MY GOD. This thing is going to be absolutely humongous.

I've got a good mind to draw these new skyscrapers in personified form, as little kids. I can see One57 calling 432 Park Avenue "Toothpick" because she's so darn skinny. One WTC has been described as one of the toughest skyscrapers ever built, I can see her picking up the other two and carrying them around, showing off just how strong she is- she's not the tallest, but she's the muscle of the group. And if the three of them ran into the architecture critics who dissed them..hoo boy, that could be..interesting. "Talk shit, get hit!"

Actually, if I were to personify Manhattan buildings, One World Trade Center, 432 Park Avenue, and 225 Wet 57th Street would be males, while One57 and 111 West 57th Street would be female.

And by the way, I found this picture that someone from NY yimby created. New York 2020:

Great to follow a tower that's going up so quickly - the benefits of a simple design with small floor plates. Can't wait to see the remaining 42 percent!
