My wife and I took a day off work on Friday and "played tourist" for her birthday. We went to the 102nd floor of the ESB using "fast pass" (I would only recommend Fast Pass, unless you want a 3 hour wait.) Anyways, I forgot my DSLR at home, but i snapped this picture on instagram. The guys that work on 102 had no idea what 432 was, but I told a bunch of tourists all about it. The tour guide was like, WOW I bet those condos go for 2 million easy. I was like, try 25 million… He then asked if they had "affordable housing" in them. I was like… seriously? ANyways, 432 is really getting up there in size, crazy how fast its grown.

It's really starting to get visibly taller than 1-57. Just a few months ago you could barely see it and now it dominates!! These are really exiting times for NY just think what 217 will look like!! Well once we get a render .

Seriously though, I just got that same feeling I get when somebody uses the term "Ground Zero" in the 1WTC thread.

it's technically 157 w 57th street so there's really no need to be picky for this one.

Used to be Carnegie 57, a better name that was ultimately changed for... I guess marketing reasons?

I really wish these towers would adopt names beyond their addresses. 432 Park is memorable enough for those of us in the enthusiast crowd, and among real estate types, but it's not exactly iconic like "Empire" or "Chrysler." Some of them will get nominal nicknames -- "Nordstrom," "Steinway," but it seems that the prevailing trend is just to leave these supertowers nameless, which is a shame.

432 Park will be similar in height to the ESB, but soooo skinny.

True, although I'll say these towers also do something to make the address as permanent as the tower's name.

I mean, I still prefer towers to have names and not addresses but NYC / Chicago is kind of a different beast in terms of density.

Okay, so after 757 posts, this is my first contribution on skyscrapercity. I was able to do this because I took the picture and posted it on my device. It's not the best picture, but I'll post closer ones when I go to Manhattan sometime. So here:

June 21st, 2014

Edit: It worked! But it's small. Probably because it was so far, I had to crop it.

nice angle. You can easily make out 432, One 57 and Citigroup.

Hard to imagine how different this view will look in a few years time if everything that is plan comes to fruition.

We should remove the trees from Central Park, they're causing so much shadow

Man, Central Park looks like a mess full of people. Well, except for the chicks in Bikini's I just can't imagine ever living in a place where I didn't have a backyard to enjoy the sun and grass in privacy.
