Here are a few shots from this morning - looks to me like the crane will have to be raised very soon:

57th &1st,

Thank you for your detailed pictures, especially the close-up photo. They confirm what I have suspected: the crane needs to be raised. Also note the configuration of the CPB, as columns are being poured, and the partial rise of the core form.

Clear? Why do people keep saying that? It's green! Am I color blind or something or is that just supposed to be "considered" clear? But sadly, it is definitely not going to keep its lovely blue color. Does that mean that the bottom panels have white, red, AND blue coverings? I know that these are very large panels from Austria, but does that make them so valuable they can't be uncovered until the end?

But anyway, I have mixed feelings about this because I don't know how it's going to turn out. I have little point of reference (they have to unveil more for anyone to make a fair judgement) and all photoshops of the completed tower show it with its red netting, because we sometimes forget that is just netting or we can't (or don't want to) make the building with its green cladding.

I'll wait until they unveil all of the glass to judge.

Well, I don't think the glass panels would look as good if they took the protective covering off as soon as the panels were installed as if they left the covering on until construction finished.

Middle window of the far left column is clear, that's the only one as far as I can tell that has nothing on it. The one to the right is half-covered by a thin blue film, the one right of that is completely covered in it. The rest have whatever that green crap is.

From what I could see it looked like a green film on the inner side protecting the glass from work going on inside.

Can they do anything more to dress this building down further than it already is? Jeez....the windows were one of the only semi decent parts to the building. Now that I see they're going to be plain-jane clear glass....I just feel like this building is decent for 1980 architecture. Boring and bland does not fit 2014 New York City. What a waste. At least it adds to height and density...other than that, nothing.

Would you like to have blue light in- or a blue colored view from your 100M apartment?

It's called minimalism and it's quite popular. "Dressing down" is sort of the point with minimalism. Minimalism is actually quite hard to do well and believe me this tower is minimalism done well. I think it's fantastic for the skyline.

You should check out this minimalist design site. You might notice that 432 park would fit in perfectly here. Minimalist Architecture - Minimalissimo

Not at all. I'm by far no expert in this field, but I'm sure you can have a two-way glass installed that can spice up the exterior while leaving a near-clear view from within.

rlw777, if that sort of design is appealing, then I must agree, it is done well. I'm just a big proponent of New York being "The" skyline of America. I'm fine with minimalist design, just don't do it on one of the tallest skyscrapers to ever be built in the city. Sigh. Each to his own....just disappointing to see such a towering structure look so...well, minimalist in design.

One concrete monolithic grid that functions as the structure, interior and exterior. This building is quite brilliant

Yep.. It's very apparent! Nice to see the film finally off from some of those windows.

Hello everyone,
After lurking on the forum for awhile I finally have a reason to post. I was in New York recently and took pictures of several construction sites. Hope you enjoy them.
