I feel that although China does indeed push out things faster than the vast majority of countries, in many cases it cuts corners. Some become obvious very quickly (Lotus Riverside Block 7- 2009). Others will probably show themselves within a few decades.

It's hard to tell but looks like protective coating has been removed from some windows.

America still has that determination.

Make no mistake, this building and others going up in New York, Chicago, LA etc, are among the tallest structures ever built. They're just not the tallest, and that's OK.

All of the other economies that are building supertalls right now, bar a few in Europe, are built on sand. Sometimes quite literally.

When the bubble bursts, China and Dubai, and a lot of these other supertall economies, are going to find it hard to justify their outrageous expense on such uselessly tall buildings. There's a reason so many of them are state funded.

I think the criticism about this being too thin for NYC is completely bogus. This thing looks MASSIVE, even from a distance.

Another core jump! (can't tell if partial or not, if not it should be complete by today anyway)
Making this now 368.5m or 1,200.1feet!

It could be thin and still beautiful. Sadly it's just bland and forgettable. And way too tall in that.
