This site has no height limits. So the taller the building, the more apartments it will have, so the more money it will make. It makes zero sense for it to be reduced in height.

As for the redesign, got a source on that? Didn't think so. Thanks for playing.
Let's just say that I've been around the block a few times. Naysayers are quick to vilify me but we shall let time be the measure.

I do recall however having much the same argument a year prior to the construction halt of Chicago's Waterview Tower.

State your proof, or hold your tongue. Speculation means nothing unless it is based on factual evidence. You may have been right before, but that doesn't mean that you will always be right unless you have sources close to this project who are feeding you information.

It seems he just 'has a feeling'. I have to say whilst I understand that this doesn't require approval, and it makes more sense to make it taller rather than shorter, I just can't believe that something so tall and simple could actually be put up in Manhattan. I wouldn't say that I don't think it will be built, because it seems quite likely that it will, but I'm just astonished.

People seem to forget that NY had two 400m+ buildings before. So for me a 400m+ tower is nothing special. But a 600m+ tower, well that's another story...

It's not that it's 400m, it's that it's so simple.

I honestly don't even know what this means. Anways, back to reality.

Demand for high-end NYC condos rivals market’s peak
December 23, 2011 08:56AM
Source.

'Not only is the high-end of the Manhattan housing market healthy, but in some respects it’s performing just as well as it did during the market’s peak, according to the Wall Street Journal. Seven deals worth more than $30 million have been recorded this year, not including Sanford Weill’s recent $88 million sale, the most since 2008 and the third-most ever. Further, the $6,000 per square foot price point that was noteworthy even in 2008 has become somewhat more commonplace, the Journal said.

The astronomical prices are buoyed by a shortage of ultra-luxury apartments, according to brokers, as the world’s wealthiest people are moving assets right now. The top of the market is so hot right now that owners in the Time Warner Center are turning down offers of more than $10,000 per square foot, according to Elizabeth Sample, a broker at Sotheby’s International Realty.

“The high end seems to have no end of an appetite for top quality,” said Kirk Henckels, director of private brokerage at Stribling & Associates. “The super rich have re-entered the market.”

I've come around to what everyone is saying about 432 Park. I was looking at these simple boxes proposed for the already, short, fat, pathetic, boxy Canary Wharf and was horrified about how much worse it will look.

They're SO SIMPLE.

I am horrified that this short, fat monument to ennui will rise in the heart of London. It will ruin the City's micro skyline.

And this groundscraper is so simple.

Is this atrocious brown thing the best that Foster can do? It's so simple.

Don't even get me started on this SIMPLE building in HK.

I just read about the tallest condo planned for 10 York in Toronto. It's so simple! There goes that city!

I hope that you all enjoyed a jolly chuckle!

All of those buildings are more complex in design then 432, with the exception of riverside in canary wharf.

I did enjoy a little chuckle, but not at what you were hoping........

You see what you've done Vinoly? You design a 400m box and don't release any real renders? Its like we're oxygen deprived.

I find this tower to be quite elegant, though I won't attempt to refute you on the grounds of aesthetics as it is to each his own.

How about some fresh updates so we can start talking about the building again?

I don't know that you have 'come around', it kinda seems like you're annoyed about people not liking this tower so you're gonna give examples of towers you don't like and return the favour. As Eastern37 said, all of those are more complex than 432, but still having said that, apart from 100 Bishopsgate and 10 York which I really quite like, I agree that those buildings, especially Riverside South, range from boring to terrible.

For me it's always been about prominence. That's why I think 100 Bishopsgate and 10 York are fine because they won't tower over everything as they're basically just pretty large filler (and I like them anyway). On the flip side, I feel fairly similarly about Riverside South as I do about 432 Park. I don't think 432 is ugly at all (though that particular version of Riverside is very ugly), but bother are very large for their areas are are at very least boring.

This'll get deleted too, and rightly so, but I observe that there's a high level of moderation going on on this thread.

Indeed and it's sadly necessary. Some of you guys are getting offtopic once you start writing here.

Perhaps we should close this topic until there's something really worth talking about.
