Fox 5 Helicopter Cam just did a close-up of 432 Park Ave about an hour ago. I apologize for the glare.

Did Greg and Rosanna have another illuminating discussion on skyscraper development?

Edit: somebody should remember to check back on the MyFoxNY Youtube channel because sometimes they post such footage.

Apparently they had to go on commercial to do some "research"

The core and perimeter has jumped up 2 levels since my pic last Wednesday. Maybe I should post these every Wednesday, it is such a great angle of the tower. Pic from today

432 Park Avenue Now Midtown’s Tallest Building (read more in link)
http://newyorkyimby.com/2014/08/432-...-building.html

Quote:
The latest photos of progress at 432 Park Avenue come with a diagram and insight courtesy of reader Marcatio Torres, who has been in touch with workers on-site; as most have noticed and as the illustration makes clear, the tower’s height is now significant, having nearly reached its 1,397-foot pinnacle. Besides continued vertical progress, the building has also surpassed the official roof heights of all other Midtown skyscrapers, and is now the tallest building north of One World Trade Center.
Quote:
The appearance of architect Rafael Vinoly’s creation has improved significantly with scale, and the choice of white concrete for the facade shows just how attractive and versatile the material really is — as well as incredibly strong, given the forces and dynamics at play in a tower so thin and so tall.

Take in the View From 432 Park's Crane, 1,375 Feet Up
http://ny.curbed.com/archives/2014/0...75_feet_up.php

Quote:
Behold, the amazing view from the best "office" in the city. The few lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you feel about extreme heights) souls who get to man the crane atop the rising 432 Park Avenue enjoy a vantage point over the city that many people will never experience, and they shared these spectacular shots from their seat in the sky, heeding our call for photos of the supertall tower (though, technically, these aren't of the building).

The crane currently sits at 1,375 feet, just 22 feet shy of the tower's superlative height. When complete, it will be the tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere, until, of course, the next one comes along.

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is on topic, but I think it's quite interesting and topical when it comes to 432 Park's height, and what it means for American skyscraper growth. I created a graph, below, using the tallest American buildings constructed each year from 1900 to the already under construction buildings with a completion date in 2018 or lower. Easily visible in the graph, America is experiencing the third, and largest skyscraper boom in it's history. The boom is unprecedented in it's magnitude, surviving the recession, and constructing buildings of heights not seen in the country in decades. The World Trade Centre, 432 Park Avenue, 225W 57th Street, Salesforce, Hudson Yards, The Chicago Spire, and countless other proposals are good examples of the enormous boom occurring since around 2009. So, let's have a discussion about it! Why is the boom occurring now? What do these booms, like the early 1920s boom and early 1970s boom mean for the economy of America, and the engineering innovation of the country? Will this boom continue on, building taller than ever before? Or, will this boom fade away in the 2020s?

Since my visit to the site last Saturday, in which floor 76 (apparent floor 81) was being completed (it was poured in two days, due to a jam of the concrete pump on Friday), today floor 77 was completed, which started yesterday afternoon after the perimeter spandrel beams were cast. Today, the floor pour started early this morning. Hopefully, the numbers of floors completed this month will equal those of April, May, and June, which were 6. So far, five have been completed. If so, that will take the tower, to the double-height floor, number 83.

Now that the tower has reached the upper limits of viewability on both cams, hopefully EarthCam will raise them, so we can witness the final floors being constructed.

According to my conversations with workers on the site, there will be one final crane jump for the tower's completion.

Great chart, but if you want to have a discussion about it, create a thread in an appropriate forum please.

This is wildly off topic for a particular building's construction progress thread.
