Height / width ratio does'nt look disproportional. Everything else looks fat now.

Interesting last few days at the 432 Park Avenue construction site. On Thursday (9/18), I observed the spandrel beams and core walls being poured. Friday, there seemed to be little activity taking place: no deliveries of any kind, no construction trash/debris being removed in the early morning, little material and personnel hoist movement, and no crane operation. Saturday also saw no activity.

As I suspected, on the DOB (Department of Buildings) site, I learned that a Stop Work Order (SWO) had been placed on the job on Thursday, due to a formwork blowing out, and approximately 4 cubic yards of concrete falling onto adjacent property, with a vehicle supposedly damaged. Until concrete cures, it exerts pressure on formwork while in its semi-liquid state. Thankfully, no injuries to anyone were reported.

According to the disposition of the SWO, it appears that the situation has been resolved, so hopefully work will resume tomorrow. It was unfortunate that such a mishap has happened, just as 432 Park Avenue is now on the home stretch.

Thanks for the heads up on that. It's as you said, unfortunate to hear but glad that no one was injured. Hopefully a simple recheck of safety and working parts can be done and the job wrapped up.

I guess so. Most of the older buildings are quite beefy. This is after one 57th the 2nd of a new generation of much more slender towers.

I was been wondering what had slowed down construction this past week or two... No jumps occurred for some time...

A check this morning on the DOB site shows that a partial SWO still exists on 432 Park Avenue. This means that a full Stop Work Order (SWO) has been rescinded, but there are still issues to be resolved in order to remove the SWO.

There is some activity taking place, as workers are on site, deliveries have resumed and trash/debris cans have been emptied. However, at present the crane is not in operation, and because of the partial SWO that exists, there are operations that may not commence until the SWO is lifted completely from the job.

According to the DOB partial SWO, no concrete operations permitted, only clean up from the 75th floor up, other trades cannot work below the 75th floor, and crane use for garbage disposal only.
