Great image but I'm 99.999% certain that photo is Photoshopped. But I guess it looks good.

boxes, boxes everywhere. I'm glad skinnier, taller towers have grown out of that mess.

I agree, but also a quite few more similarities than I expected between 1979 and now.
I gues a lot more will change in the near future with a new generation of very tall slender towers rising here.

I don't think it is photoshoped, the other day, searching in flickr pictures of the ESB observatory, I found at least 4 or 5 pictures with close ups of pigeons and the skyline as background...

And speaking of birds, or people, sneaking on tall buildings, the 17 year old daredevil that entered 432 park the other night, published more amazing pictures on his Instagram account....http://instagram.com/demidism/?utm_s...campaign=photo

BTW, He even make to the TV news and newspapers!... I wonder what will happen to this boy now that everybody knows who he is and make some fuss on the media...

This one is funny, looks like taken from "The name of the rose" (NYC-21st century version) or the DaVinci code, or something...

Also looking at this picture, it must have taken from the top of the perimeter of the building, it matches the 1271 ft. view from 432 Park website...

The picture with the clouds is taken from a higher spot, you can see how the relation between ESB antenna and 1WTC spire changes, in the first the top of the ESB antenna looks higher than 1WTC's and in the other looks bellow, indicating it is on a higher place, the top of the crane, that must be higher than the building when it tops out, so about 1450ft, the same as the ESB antenna tip that looks level with that picture

BTW, that kid made to the newspapers and TV news...I wonder what will happen to this boy now that everybody knows who he is and make some fuss on the media...
Edit. by the reading of the comentaries of his pictures on Instagram, apparently the kid got arrested

Excuse my ignorance in case it's been answered before, but the very top floors don't actually house apartments, do they? Just mechanical stuff? So, what is the highest floor for residents? I remember a figure around 390 m being posted here once, but not sure about that anymore.

the highest floor is at around 396m, the core carries on after that for the mechanical floors, then the core stops 2 floors from the top because the counter-weight/tuned mass damper goes there

Dont quite me on that though, but it's about right I think

This looks like the Empire State Building held out invisible arms and took a group selfie. Weird thought, lol

This guy has a differing but definitely an interesting view as to why he believes this building is "giving the finger to New Yorkers.
