I like the tower. I don't get all the criticism

What makes New York great is the differences in architectural design between all the skyscrapers in Midtown. That nice blend between different eras of skyscraper construction is what makes it special. We are now in era that may not be as aesthetically pleasing for us... but who knows after twenty-thirty years how much we going to appreciate having a tower like this one.

You have to give time for a skyscraper to fit in on its skyline. A city cannot stay the same forever. Change and eternal growth is what makes this city great.

A proud New Yorker and very happy of the current wave of skyscraper construction. I'm already excited to see what the next wave of supertalls in the next cycle (maybe in 20 years?) will add to our city.

I don't want a European-like city known for its landmarks. I want a city know for its past, present, and future. Keep the growth going no matter what the design is...

Lastly, its wonderful when I hop on the 4 train every morning (Mount Eden, Bronx) and I see this super tall slowly growing and puncturing our skies. Every day I religiously look at our skyline in the horizon from the platform, I was amazed to see that I could no longer see the ESB as it was now being blocked by 432 Park Avenue. It was about time we have a new leader!

I understand the criticisms of this tower yet I like it too. It isn't the best design... far from it, but it's also a nice addition to the skyline. It's a box, but it's a nice box.

A little off topic, but I thought it was a cool shot.

Please, make those pictures smaller. Leaving them so big won't improve quality.

I agree; it's quite annoying.

I printed those pictures out, framed them and told people they were watercolour paintings.

The two 1960s office towers seen in this photo will be gone within 20 years and replaced with supertall residentials.

It's probably been said already, but boy is this an eye sore. Some designer comes up with a square building and thinks he's brilliant. At 80$ million per apartment, I suppose he is.

It's not an eyesore IMO, it fits perfectly for the area plus it will be joined by the rest of the super towers rising along 57th street that would make it less of an "eyesore" for you. Variety is good and there nothing like it in the city.

Plus it's the most practical and most functional design possible for a building of this exceptional width to height ratio with as much living space and window surface as possible without compromising the structural strength and stability of the building.

In one word: amazing.
