Party, party, party

First, I was a bit dissapointed by this building, but then i really started liking it.
And it's the reason, why i registered here.

So, good to see this finally be topped out. Progress wasn't that fast, over the last weeks, appearing to me.

This building is a massive monument which has transformed the Midtown skyline.

For the second time in history, the ESB is once again the 3rd tallest building in New York, after 1WTC and 432 Park Avenue. Other towers are on the way to push the King even more down the list: Nordstrom, 111W57th, 125 Greenwich, and 30 HY. After these bad boys are completed, say 2017/18, the ESB will be the 7th tallest building in the city. And don't forget 2WTC, which will restart in a couple of years. My guess is that by 2025 the King will eventually drop out of the top 10.

432 PA is just the beginning of an incredible cityscape transformation. Fasten your seat belts guys, because the ride has just begun!

I agree, Hunser.

I can't wait to see NY from a plane in 5 years.

And One Vanderbilt+ infinite possibilities at the Hudson Yards

But to be honest, out of all of them only a few of the HY buildings and One Vanderbilt can be classified as fatter buildings. So even with these buildings all completed, ESB would still look pretty dominant. It just has that presence.

10.10.14 from the Rockefeller Center (Top of the Rock)

The Empire State Building is reflected in the glass railing. I've only seen it when I was at home.

When I saw this tower from the Met's roof, I was spellbound.

I have struggled with this problem myself, and I found half a solution. You can crop the photos after you take them, so you should zoom out before taking a photo and crop it afterwards. It will do a little to help the situation if you're far from a tower. You were at the Top of the Rock, so I don't think it would benefit you to crop the rest of the photo out.

My case in point:

It gets smaller as you crop out more of the image. In this case, it only helped a smidge.

This is at the intersection of 104th and Park, exactly 47 streets north of where 432 Park Avenue is. Seeing this from so far is what makes the Manhattan street grid so cool.

you could always use paint, just remember to save the aspect ratio.
I hope you don't mind but I used one of your pictures as an example:

Do you notice the similarity of this tower to that big white building on 5th, the concrete one? Despite the larger windows the feel is similar, heavy and brutal. I sincerely hope this is the last of these supertalls based on this outdated style.

It's not outdated. It's timeless.

Brutalism 4 ever! If 432 is not brutalist then it surely is inspired by it. And I do like 1 on
5th.

I'm curious if the top of Bacarat will be lit up at night. It seems to have the same Chrystal glass as the base. If light is projected through that prism-like Chrystal, the colors will be stunning!

I wonder what it's like living in the tower, it must be weird to live that high.

Just imagine one of these billionaires venturing upon this forum and being like... "Wtf... these plebs care so much about my home..."

But seriously, they're probably used to that kind of high, luxury living. It might be a nice upgrade though.
