We lost a classical grand hotel and got a stick which is so disproportionate and warped to the extent that it's an insult to modern architecture itself. It will be a scar to NYC for years to come, even worse than if Robert Moses had it his way.

I really hope this building has a lifespan comparable to that of the Gillender Building. I guarantee within a decade it's going to top the charts on surveys of NYC's least-favorite buildings. The Pan Am Building is hated for ruining the the Grand Central Terminal area, and this building ruined the skyline in its entirety. All people care about is the height...
This is minimalism at its best. 432 Park Avenue is a very classy tower. Do you want a kitschy crown à la Dubai Marina? Or maybe a green - brownish facade? Look at the other Park Avenue buildings, they all share the same characteristics: bold, yet harmonic. Towers like 432 PA won't get old, because they are already an instant classic. I just wish it were taller, because this design works perfectly for great heights. Look at it, although 1,400 feet to the roof, you get a kind of smooth, unagitated feeling. No flashiness or awkwardness whatsoever. The tower has a presence, but at the same time isn't overwhelming.

I say job well done.

Look's like Manhattan has a chimney!
Just Kidding,
I like it, it just look's like a chimney from Billgate's long distance shots.
But seriously this sucker has a major impact on the skyline, I don't see One57 from that shot, so that's a good thing for 432.

Yes, you can't see One57 in that shot because it's being blocked by the giant chimney being built in Midtown.

Nice video!

This tower has transformed the Manhattan skyline. As it adds a new peak to Midtown. TD Bank and Time Warner will do the same.

I agree. A chimney surely doesn't make such a huge impact on the skyline and also doesn't block other buildings. 432 PA isn't that thin, it actually blocks a lot of views and can be seen from miles.

I feel like right now, this building does look a little out of place, but it won't in a few years when the other 57th street supertalls balance it. Plus, how often do we get to see a new tallest in Midtown? The last time that happened was in 1931.
