The skyscrapers to the south of Central Park are pretty tall themselves. The GM building is ~700'

If 432 park was only 300 meter, you probably wouldn't see it from this location.

I have to find a way to photograph it from the Bruckner expressway, you wouldn't believe how gigantic it looks in comparison to the rest of the skyline, as it seen from the north in a perspective that allows it to dwarf everything else.
It's like seeing the Burj Khalifa next to the ESB

Those must be some really floors if it's this big and only 89 stories tall. It's huge!

The picture below reminds me a little bit of the view of Manhattan from 1940.

Bit poetic, but I love how the towers of Midtown seem to be growing ever higher, like a survival of the fittest race in trees sprouting ever taller over a dense rainforest canopy for sunlight. In a sense, these towers are constantly having to be taller for better views of Central Park. I absolutely love it, it's like market forces are the natural motivator here.

It has always been like that in NYC, and that is why I love It much more than Dubai, which is a showdown funded by oil money. NYC is a definition of a natural city, and Central Park in a way shows this - there are axactly the same principles, like you said, a race for sun (and views). And exactly like in nature where there is dense canopy, the towers are getting thinner and taller:

It scares me how thin 432 Park Ave really is... I like it.... it just seems thin like if Hurricane Sandy came back, it could just knock it over....

it looks thin because it's very tall.. and it's neighbors are huge buildings..
i like it though..for me, it's an epitome of simplicity over way-over-the-top to impress..a trampling supertall..
