c'mon, don't highlight it in bold and use the wrong one!

what you've said there is "And the highest roof EVER in it is history of skyscrapers for over 100 years"

Well thanks for correcting me. (Thought there was something funny in my spelling...)

Anyway, hope you understand what I meant and didn't mean...

I do wish ParkAve would really be the tallest in the world. I mean 800+ meters... Wouldn't that be insane (!)... Physically impossible probably. It's so thin & tall already.

New York (as great & grand & amazing as it is as it is) deserves taller buildings... Much taller ! Tallest buildings in the world. It's the only thing New York is missing these days. (now I got it right)

Yeah, sure, because a 3000 ft tall wouldn't crush the skyline by dwarfing every single skyscraper in manhattan (including 432 and all futur supertalls).

As a rule, I'm never opposed to a ridiculously tall building dwarfing the rest of the skyline. ESB did it and 80+ years later it's still the tallest in its area by far.

Right, but the ESB did not dwarf the second tallest ( Chrysler at the time) by a 2:1 ratio.
I'm not opposed to a hypertall neither, but only if we can make sure that the skyline will be able to adapt and assimilate the new tower. I think it would be a good idea to have a few 500 built before any 800+, to avoid any "ugly transition time" like in Duba´ right now, and the risk that the ugly time last for decades.

I understand and appreciate your point, but why not take 'em if you can get 'em? The market always has downturns.

Manhatten's Financial District could bear imho a building like Ping An, Goldin Finance 117 or CTF.
Classy, elegant, timeless, but tall as fuark.

Actually, I would love to see all of these three there.

Basically because you don't want an entire generation to see a disfigured island.

Well, as a matter of facts, NYC is about to get loaded with 400+, and at least one 500, so the matter is kind of settled.

EDIT : Things are different in Lower Manhattan, with a very different urban feeling, and many buildings of the financial district are wide and less vertical-looking than in midtown, they would probably handle better the dwarfism.
In Paris for example, the historical center is dominated by a single overwhelming supertall tower, but because of the horizontal feeling of most buildings, they don't look ridiculous and the Eiffel tower creates some sort of nice balance between verticality and a mostly horizontal neighborhood.

The ESB pretty much was freakily large when it was built. It dwarfed everything in the neighbourhood at the time ( for a very long time ) including the much more slender and smaller Chrysler building which only came close height-wise thanks to a very slender high spire. When you stand them side by side, there's no doubting the fact that the ESB is MUCH larger.

Looks like that cube is getting an opaque cladding (I think). It looks like that material that lights up...

The top of 432 Park should be a completely flat rooftop deck / observation level. Imagine 8' glass walls sticking up from the current edges. Maybe angle them out like the Hancock building...
