For a city of its size New York has one of the more active preservation communities in the world.

That said, I will miss that cluster of townhouses.

When the prep work like foundation etc are done and the building becomes under construction is when this is moved.

Big concrete pour going on this morning.. with line of trucks. Looks like remaining retaining wall along 56 and against adjacent building to the west.
Also knocking down the last of 38 E 57th.

DID SOME DIGGING

Result is my new blog post:

http://newyorkyimby.blogspot.com/201...ll-be-new.html

Read it and weep (or rejoice)

Quote:
The documents reveal--for the first time--that the tower will consist of 90 floors. The diagrams also shed light on the future layout of 432 Park; instead of simply two buildings rising on the lot, there will be at least 3.

Awesome find! Looks like they are also planning a hotel in the lower sections. I had thought it was all apartments.

89 floors and 1,380 feet tall. I only hope the glass is good. A plain design, but its got height, that's for sure.

I was so excited when I found it, I've been looking for months! It looks like it might have been there for over a month, too... so great to finally get specifics! (and I'm glad my dinky little blog got to break the news... if it is official, which the drawings do seem to indicate).

Floor count is 90 btw.

I saw that here.

But the elevation drawings clearly show only 89 floors. Maybe the architect is trying to claim the roof as the 90th floor. If so, that's a pretty weak argument.

Oh okay, they might be referring to the retail level then, also it really only has 87 actual floors as the top 2 are labelled as roof.

That retail space is below that glass cube..But the whole below grade space will be filled with 3 levels..Most of it will be parking..Cars will be lowered with an elevator..There will be also mechanical equipment for hotel and stuff like that..Exactly below the building will be one retail level, level with residential storage and level with hotel recycling area..

Great digging right there man! So as predicted "core" in the middle. And as an addition two stair cages on the sides. Also there is a bit more elevators that we suspected. I would guess that's because of the hotel part. It will most likely produce more traffic than regular apartments. Let's see if the apartments will really be multilevel because that's really not much of space left in a single floor. Btw from the plans it also looks like "the core" may actually be the core. I mean look how thick the walls are. Looks at least as thick as the structural facade is.

1380 feet, that's awesome, so it will indeed be taller than 1WTC
