exactly, people who say its ugly honestly anger me. It's too simple and elegant in size to be ugly it also adds a new peak, who does not love that?

You're very easily angered.

As amazingly thin as 432 Park is, the base of 111 W 57th will have only a bit more than half of the volume of 432 Park (53.3%).

432 Park Avenue = 93.5 X 93.5 = 8,742 sq feet

111 W 57th Street = 79.25 X 58.75 (base dimensions) = 4,656 sq feet

Yes, 111 W 57th will taper after about the halfway point, but building a structure with apartments up to 1,150 feet and an architectural top of 1,421 feet on such a small base will be something to watch.

Exiting times. Records are being broken in every extent of construction.

So..how accurate are these diagrams ? It certainly looks FAR slimmer than 432 here...

Those are generally accurate as far as relative height, but since most of them are drawn with varying perspectives, their widths can be distorted. That particular 432 diagram on SSP is at a nearly 45 degree angle from the front "elevation" view, making the tower look nearly as wide as 1 WTC, when in fact it's closer to half.

Thanks, McSky. Is 79.25' the width from east to west and 58.75' the depth from north to south?

I believe the longest dimension runs north-south through the block.
