Except for the ESB and WTC no other building (in NYC) has ever stood so tall above it immediate surroundings.

And to think that back when the Flatiron was being constructed skeptics were sure that it was too tall and that the wind would knock it over! Just by judging from the first pic with the Metlife tower, those skeptics were soon proved wrong, and look where we are now! Bravo, NYC, and I can't wait to visit you this July!

Oh yes, Sol LeWitt. I love his work. And that's why I love this skyscraper so much: the pure and straight geometric lines are wonderful.

That's why I loved the twin towers too. They were breathtaking in their simplicity.
