Wouldn't it be sad to live in this building - on the third floor?

In 432 Park? The lower floor apartments are sold for corporate use or for apartments for the staff (help).

The owner of a higher floor buys $50m unit and doesn't want the help to reside within their apartment so they have an option to buy one of these lower floored (cheapest units in the building) for their help for a measly $2 million in a great prime location. Damn.. Where can I sign up.

Well, that's the sales pitch anyway, but with many owners only living there part time I highly doubt they will employ permanent live-in help. In fact live-in help is very rare in the USA. Almost no one here in L.A., even those that own 40 to 50million houses, have live-in help. The help live in East L.A., or the valley, and simply show up at 6am like any employee.

But I'm sure there are enough hipsters that can afford a 2mill mortgage that will jump on these apartments just for the bragging rights of out-hisptering their hipster friends.

I think it will take awhile before it's really embraced, particularly by New Yorkers, because it's something we've never really seen before in our skyline but I think so long as it is so unique eventually it is going to be a fondly thought of part of the great NYC skyline. People will pick up on its elegant, deceptively simple geometry it's sparse no frills look and yet something about it registers as genuinely part of the New York fabric. Plus it's so dang tall and slender you can't help but notice it, ol!

Off topic, but are the similarities between the MetLife building and the tower behind it intentional or coincidence?
