The plastic is on every panel shown. There are a few uncovered panels near the base. It's beautiful dark glass.

PS: The glass in the 57th St retail base is really nice.

This photo really outlines the beauty of the grid facade. It's a very pure, sublime geometry that will stand the test of time.

Windows with removed film look good.

Notice that the glass on the two upper floors seems to be non-transparent or to have some kind of plate to block the light.
Look that in the corners, you can see the windows on the adjacent side through the glass. But in the last two floors you can't see anything through it. Obviously, the reason for doing that would be for that roofless parapet not to look different from the roofed (and darker) floors.

I noticed that too. I think it's the right move. What would be even better would be if they were to add subtle lighting between the glass and the dark background to mimic the look of lit apartments.

p.s. - Is that a bird on the corner of the parapet?

One of my favorite little pleasures in life is pulling that little protective film off the screen of electronics like tablets and phones.

I'd like to volunteer for the job of pulling the film off all those windows!

That should fill my boots for a lifetime.

I checked out those new pics- there's a lot of cool ones that weren't posted here, such as the mechanical innards. I have to admit, it's pretty cool seeing the inner workings of my favorite buildings!

LOL, so true! Like Tour Montparnasse in Paris... It has the most beautiful view of the city because it's the only place where you can't see it. The same was said about the Eiffel Tower, which was intended to be temporary, yet people started to like it.

Unless this tower is dwarfed in the near future with more innovative-looking ones and in the near vicinity, I can never accept or respect it. At least Tour Montparnasse was appropriate for its time in the 1960s.

How you think Montparnasse was appropriate and not this tower is mind-boggling.

If you didn't realize, I said "for the 1960s," which was about destroying f**k all for new.

What's mind-boggling is a beautiful 1920s grand hotel was destroyed years later in 2007, and this is the replacement.
