You know, it really doesn't seem too skinny for me. It looks just right.

It does help that the tower is rarely seen completely from the side. It looks pencil-thin when seen from the exact right angles, but from others - such as in the picture above - it's a whooping 1.414 times wider, because we see it almost exactly on the diagonal. From those angles, the proportions don't look as extreme.

Good point. The building is 93.5 feet on a side, so when viewed edge-on, the building is 132 feet wide.

Besides, the bottom part of the building is often hidden from view. If it was standing freely in the open it would look very thin.

This has to be most cheap looking skyscraper ever built in New York. Every aspect is bland, the form, the curtain wall, the windows design, the lobby, even the name is bland.
It's just a tall box, an eyesore that will only be apprecaited by those who only care about height.

I must agree. It's as dull as f**k. Still, you're not allowed to have that opinion on here... you're supposed to fawn and gush over it, so expect the backlash very shortly.

Put it this way,,, if this thing was going up in some Chinese city or Dubai.. it would struggle to make the first page of this forum.

^You're fully allowed to have an opinion. Don't confuse that with an inalienable right to never, ever be confronted with it. Some people have one opinion, other people another, and at some point it is expected that they share reasons for thinking what they do.

If you make reasonable arguments, and avoid breaking any of the rules, you can say pretty much whatever you want about this building. But don't expect people to never speak against you. Then you've misunderstood the whole point of a forum.

For the record, I, too, agree that this tower looks a bit bland. That it doesn't have a name beyond its address is also annoying to me. But then, again, maybe other people will be fine with it.

I like to think of myself as a minimalist. I also think there's good minimalism and bad minimalism. 432 is the bad kind. IMHO.

This "thing" would not be built in Dubai because it's far too classy. No kitschy crown or cladding here. And for Asia it's not flashy enough -how about some neon lights or a laser show? I know some people are disappointed ...
