Now that sticks out "a bit" I mean, not in a good way I'm afraid.. Let's just hope more supertals will rise in it's direct surrounding.

Not in a good way? Most would disagree.

I agree in the fact that it really sticks out but I disagree in the fact that it's a bad thing.

For panoramic skyline look like that it definitely adds some unpleasant imbalance. I think it can't be more obvious than it is on that pic. And actually I think many would agree.

You guys sound really arrogant. Calling the Aon tower ugly, and this beautiful ? The only reason anyone cares about this is because its 420m. Its just a really thin and tall square building, and is really ugly. Hopefully this isn't the final design.

I don't think very many have called this beautiful.

They are not in that pic because it shows midtown and the WTC is in downtown.

Walpole you mean. Quote him if you have a problem with what he said. Remember that was two and a half months ago you can't just say, 'some people' and expect everyone to know what the hell your talking about.

I disagree. The new building just stretches the skyline and creates a more dramatic and impressive profile. The imbalance is not a problem in other cities and it's not a problem here. I would take this anytime over the current 'plateau' effect you see in Manhattan. This is a skyscraper site, I fear you are probably in the minority. People here want to see taller towers, and are not phased by such issues as imbalance. They consider taller towers as a good thing in most cases and imbalances create drama.

No...I think you may actually be in the minority Most people like a well balanced skyline, not a skyline with a few tall thin buildings sticking up above the rest. I like the idea of this tower but the more renders I see of it in the skyline it just looks more an more out of place.

A skyline is everything about contrast. Even the flat skyline of Paris has his Eiffel Tower sticking above the rest.
This new tower is a great addition to the midtown skyline.
