The building looks nice but I'm still convinced it'll snap in a stiff breeze . There's something about a fat and chunky 'scraper that comforts me.

Do Americans nickname their buildings like we've started to in London? Has "toothpick" been used?

----

Edit: American's and not Americans. D'oh!

I believe it's called the "Matchstick", personally, I love it.

They're probably still lugging tons of marble up there

which means that the construction elevator will stay for yet a while.

Especially when it is finished and fully occupied. At night, some windows will be lit, others not. Some will come on, some will go off. A time lapse video of it will look just like a random tetris game.

Some shots from this morning (click pics for full size):

Looks like maybe the concrete is finally getting washed.....?

Also, nice clear view of one of the drums:

This is, what I think is a shame about the tower. When it is raining in NY you can see how it is wet on the one side it is raining on and dry on the other side. It will look dirty and dark on rainy days...a shame

so, like any other building with a concrete or stone facade? Water, what a shame!

It's all right, no one looks up whenever it rains anyway.
