From this morning... Some good progress in peeling off the blue plastic on a lot of the windows:

Nice, so there's still an ugly green film on the inside. I was worried there for a bit.

I think I prefer the blue over the green.

Did anyone see the top two floors of the parapet illuminated the other night? I think that it was Tuesday. Each "window" was lit along the inside of the box. It was a very interesting effect or maybe I was hallucinating?

Saving some surprises for the big reveal?

Are there zoning laws west of Midtown that prevent towers from going up? The line of development is so abrupt it almost forms a wall of skyscrapers.

Why aren't they putting an observation floor/deck in this building? Don't they realize that it could make them millions considering the high number of tourists who visit New York??

It has a lot to do with the subway system. The wall you're seeing is pretty much 8th Avenue - take a look at this map, and you'll notice that there aren't any subway lines west of the A/C/E in this part of Manhattan. No convenient public transportation means no easy access to workers, which means no incentive to build an office building.

As you may be aware, the 7 line, which has always ended at Times Square, has just been extended to 34th Street and 11th Avenue. Not surprisingly, this is now happening. If there was ever a more clear-cut example of the economic power of public investment in infrastructure, I haven't seen it.

(...and check out Streetscapeer's amazing photos of the new Hudson Yards station!!!!)

They'd lose their buyers.
These units are sold to the wealthiest of the world. People don't want to pay $50-100 million for an apartment with an exclusive view if the average Joe can go up on top of the same building for $29.99.
Also who needs a messy, noisy line of tourists with screaming kids around their home.
This building is not for the poor.
