I've been watching for this since reading your post, but hadn't seen anything like that until last night - looks like a few of the windows may have been lit the way you described...:

I saw the illumination of top floors too last night, thought it looked amazing. It looked like every window was illuminated along all 4 sides, kind of yellowish. Definitely different than in these pics.

It's hard to imagine that lighting the top two floors of windows will have much of a visual impact when the tower is occupied. Won't it simply look like every other window of the tower, in which someone has a room or living area lit? Maybe I'd have to see it in person?

I was thinking a simple LED outline of the very top would look decent....or perhaps that coupled with an LED outlining of the "empty" spaces between the tower

The architects intent on having the building appear to be divided into floating sections is lost with distance. From afar, the tower looks like a simple rectangle on the skyline. He would have needed to leave more empty floors and emphasize that effect more for this to be a truly successful design worthy of top building status. In my opinion of course.

The renders indicate the mech spaces will be lit up.

A couple of months ago I saw the open floors with the round drums lit up I suppose for testing. So at some point when they are ready it will all be turned on. Should be quite a sight as I understand that they will run all night.

Maybe start a kickstarter to raise money and rent the floors under and above the mech-floors
