I always had 1 Madison Park in mind here as well - and it totally sucks.
It just ruins the marvellous ensemble impact of the historical neighborhood of Madison Park.

432 Park Ave will look even more awkward, with completely failed proportions. Horrible.

See weirdly, I actually quite like One Madison Park. It does stick out very prominently in its fairly lowrise environment, but for some reason as it's still not very tall I'm not so annoyed. Also it's not 'just a box', it looks like it was actually worked on by an architect rather than a just business men.

Maybe is a silly question..

What is the function of the white machines that we can see on the site? There are maybe six of this. They have an arm

They support small buildings adjacent to the site until physical supports are constructed.

Those are actually drilling machines...boring through the rock adjacent to the buildings...I walk by everyday and you can see and hear them boring...hole is really getting quite deep.

I have to comment on the how the building fits in the neighborhood. Personally I think it is going to be a fascinating addition to the other historic modernist boxes close by...ie Lever House, Seagrams building, GM building...IBM building. To put things in perspective this building will be almost exactly TWICE as tall as the GM building. Also there will be an interesting dialog with older buildings close by that are topped with slender towers. ie. the Fuller Building...Sherry Netherland, Squib building, 106 East 57, and newer version such as the Bloomberg building and the Four Seasons (which will be dwarfed)...it will literally 'raise the bar' in midtown. 432 and 0ne 57 are breaking the glass ceiling in midtown

Isn't there at least one more building that has to come down before this one starts?

Why is the camera offline for the blasting? Now I am missing all the action.

hahaha amazing!! I was watching the webcam, everything was quite quiet and some people seemed to be hiding behind a corner, I was wondering what they were doing, and suddenly I saw a controlled explosion!!, in the ground that now is in shadow. It seems those grey blankets are used to cover the explosions, now I think they are removing them from that place to continue excavating where the explosion took place. I hadn't read the last few post here so I didn't know they were using explosions for this in the middle of the city, it was very small, but anyway, it's in the middle of the city!
