I am not a big fan of 432 pa but I love park ave for its tree lines ( bradford pear if not wrong) that usually bear very pure white blossoms in late april

Is it just me, or is this building taking longer than average to open after topping out?

The construction of tall buildings (even the interior of relatively thin buildings such as this one) just takes longer.

Add in the luxury element, and it takes even longer.

Indeed, and in such cases the construction elevator comes in handy.

When you say disregarding economics, meaning adding more elevators and losing rentable space at every floor, and not being a profitable building. They would be able to go to at least 600 meters. Such a building would never be built.
When they built the Singer Tower in NY many years ago, there wasn't enough rentable floor space on the floors to be a profitable building. The building was eventually torn down for this reason.

Interesting, I have never heard that before, although it does make sense. Still a shame Singer was demolished.

While 432 Park Ave is a thin tower proportionately, it is still huge. Each floor is a square about 28m each side, or an area of nearly 800 square metres, which is large!

A residential building has much fewer occupants and thus needs fewer elevators, meaning a smaller core. An office building this tall and thin would have almost no usable floor space. In fact the core of 3WTC, for instance, is the size of this whole building!
