It's been a while since I have posted progress pics of this "completed" building...

For what it's worth, it's been at least a couple months since I've seen the drums lit up at night (and I've never seen them all lit up at the same time). Really wish they'd get that part of the project completed.

Here's how it looks as of this morning - this is the first time I've noticed the window washing rig on the roof (click for full size):

And if you want to peek in the windows, here are some top-to-bottom close ups (I highly recommend clicking & zooming on these for a glimpse of some of those marble bathrooms under construction ):

A twin tower will make it much less bland.

^ A twin tower will also cost another 1,250,000,000 and will take another 4 years. Also it may not be as profitable as building a separate building elsewhere, especially for a cool 1.25 Billion. And for those reasons alone a twin tower will never be created.

Given how that works, the guy who just spent billions making the largest phallus should be the last one implying p**** envy.

That central park pic above.. it when the render becomes reality xD. So many renders from that same angle and now it's the real thing.

And 220 Central Park South is coming along really steadily!

I don't know if i like or not this building. Sometimes it looks beautiful and sometimes it looks horrible to me...

They are sure taking their time lighting this thing up permanently. They were testing out lighting alternate drums a few months ago. I wonder what happened. I don't consider this building done until they light it up completely.

And believe me, that can take a while. I'm a light programmer myself. testing and checking and finding the best animations and combinations is only half the job. For one man, the programming in between can take a day per floor, per preset. Imagine they test about 20 presets

My guess is that something else is the holdup. The drums are identical so once the programming is refined for one floor, it will will be used for the rest even though individually controllable.

More likely is that another trade is at work and the lighting comes last.

One57's crown still hasn't been lit yet and that building was completed in 2014.
