Imagine how awkward it would be when you're taking a bath and then the window cleaners suddenly decide to clean your bathroom window from the outside. How do they actually keep the privacy in bathrooms with windows as large as these?

Well... there are always window shades which could be drawn.

Window washing schedules would be posted in elevators months in advance.

That said... I think the point of these pictures is to show that you "don't need" shades, as you're above the city. Yes... paparazzi could probably find a spot to aim a telescope, but given the angles it would be pretty tough to take a meaningful picture.

Like a lot of you I was curious about the lighting of the open floors (drums), so I called the sales office. Was told that they're working on the electrical and no change in plans. Drums will be lit just can't say when.

We can start an insurgency. Everyone call sales office 212-432-5657 and chant, "LIGHT THOSE DRUMS!", 'LIGHT THOSE DRUMS!", "LIGHT THOSE DRUMS!" .....

Here's the east-facing facade as of this morning - looks like the second drum from the top has lost its orange netting....(click pics for full size):

What happens when somebody tries to impersonate an architecture critic crossed with a Social Justice Warrior- apparently we're evil for appreciating this tower.

This tower just demands your attention in skyline shots. 1,400ft of pure dominance

Stuff like that makes it hard to tolerate the left. How pathetic is it to hate someone simply because they have more money than you?

No, it's not simply because you have more money, it's that you somehow STOLE it from them or from society at large. Remember the old slogan: property is theft? That is, to get your money you must have somehow exploited others. Even if you never broke a law, the very existence of your wealth constitutes exploitation. How else can you explain progressive taxation? Not only do higher income earners pay more in absolute dollar terms but they are required to pay more in percentage terms. What possible moral principle can justify that double whammy? Only the idea that it is your duty to make amends for your exploitation of others.

He tries to disarm the innocent reader with:

Quote:
It is a monstrous error to consider any work of architecture apart from its historical context. Imagine some clueless tourist wandering over to Ground Zero and saying, "Oh, what pretty fountains, let's take selfies!" or a visitor to Auschwitz cluelessly admiring the metalwork on the "Arbeit Macht Frei" gate, or complimenting the pleasing angles of the Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang, without thinking about the mountain of skulls that it represents. You'd rightly call such people ignorant and offer a short lecture about what each of those structures really means.
He's completely right about the Ryugyong Hotel and the failure of people to divorce such things from their context. I've argued that myself on that hotel's thread.

But then he conflates that monstrosity with a building in NYC built with money given voluntarily by investors who themselves got it via voluntary transactions with their customers/investors/whomever. But that doesn't matter to the writer since the evil of North Korea and the voluntary financing of a skyscraper in NYC are the same thing. He's guilty of the same context dropping of which he accuses others.
