From Curbed:
Secret Service debates blocking off Fifth Avenue ‘whenever Trump is in town’

Quote:
The NYPD and the Secret Service are trying to negotiate a strategy to secure Trump Tower, home and headquarters of the president-elect. While the two agencies are scheduled to meet Thursday to hash out plans, a “police source” told the New York Daily News that the Secret Service wants to keep traffic off Fifth Avenue near the tower “whenever Trump is in town.”

And if Trump gets his way, that will be a lot of the time. As the Times reported earlier this week, the 45th President is something of a homebody—on the campaign trail, he often “flew several hours late at night...so he could wake up in his own bed in Trump Tower,” and sources suggest he’s hoping to spend at least a few nights a week at his 24-karat gold-encrusted Fifth Avenue penthouse.

But according to the Daily News, “top brass” in the NYPD are arguing that shutting down “even a portion of one of the city’s major avenues would be a nightmare that ‘can’t happen.’”

“It’s a negotiation,” the source told the Daily News. “Their job is to keep the President safe. Our job is to keep the President safe, but also let the people who live and work and visit there have some semblance of normality.”

What exactly that will look like isn’t clear yet. It’s also not clear how many blocks of Fifth Avenue would need to be closed off to accommodate increased security at the tower. Airspace over the building has already been declared a no-fly zone through inauguration day.

Already, amped-up security around the tower, which has been blocked by concrete barriers, is taking its toll on nearby businesses. Henri Bendel, located directly across from Trump Tower, closed by mid-afternoon both days this weekend.

Today's New York Times article, "Donald Trump Digs In at His Tower, Grinding Fifth Ave. to a Halt"

5th ave is vital to NYC and when Leader is at the palace (Trump Tower) area is practically shut down and even when Leader's not around to have even partial closure is a like worst thing that could possibly happen. Police car sirens all day every day. Can't go anywhere near the area without major headache. Hope that he goes to DC. Crosstown traffic was never good and now intolerable mess.

That has to be one of the best photos that capture the truly simplistic yet enormously beautiful design. Thanks for sharing.

From last night....crummy cell phone snap through a grimy window of a bouncy plane, but it's the first time I've been able to spot the lit up drums from the air (look just to the right of the center of the pic - looks like four stacked dashes):

He said he wants to spent half of his week in Trump Tower even during his Presidency

Wow, what a sad interior. So tiny, and those bedrooms and baths look like your average apartment in anywhere USA. If this was a house, at max it would be worth 5 million. And on the side of a hill or mountain you would have even better views. But in this tower this is what, 30 million? More? Ridiculous.

Well, CIM bought the old buildings here, had to raze them, hire an architect, dig a hole and build this tower. I wonder how much this was. On top of that, you have the selling point of the views and of course to feel as you are something special. But i do agree, that at least this appartment looks not very special to me. The furniture in the dinner room looks awful.

the rooms are actually so small, that the huge windows don´t have enough room to breath and express themselves openly.

Are there four apartments per level? Three windows each per corner?

Most units, including all of the upper floors, are one or two units per floor.
