I was picking up some groceries and thought I'd snap some quick pics from the LIC waterfront.

Parece mentira que esa porquería sea el edificio más alto de la ciudad, sin contar la altura de antenas o pináculos.

I guess this issue is applicable to all cities and highrise developments?

I love the transparent overhang above the entrance, its lighting is fascination itself. Minimalistic | Futuristic lover!
Oh, and by the way the birch trees are everything! The texture of the concrete is artful.

I am amazed by this tower, it is a true masterpiece. The window frames from level 3 on have a Mondrian like pattern on them, everxthing is pure perfection. If they had a few benches on the plaza, this would be just 110% perfection. I love everything about this building.

..Well seen about Mondrian but benches wouldn't fit at all in such a fancy place!
It would be like having a Hot Dog cart in the Peninsula lobby!...

Whoa, very cool spot with the patterned window treatments! Too bad they couldn't include those the whole way up instead of just on the amenity floors, but I'm sure not every billionaire resident will share the architect/designers' taste.

The plaza is really nice, clean, sharp, like the building.

The interesting aspect is that from such a compact and simple base a very tall tower rises. It certainly gives one pause to reflect upon the true power and beauty of steel skeleton construction.

This is a concrete structure.

I like how Manhattan gets such tall buildings get build in the least expected locations, best example is 111 west 57th street, it´s basically build in the backyard of a building. Sandwiched in. Same for the Nordstrom tower. This is now the ultimative skyscraper and urban experience we are getting. Manhattan will outdo itself.

Right. Don't I look like the bloody idiot.

But I think my point holds true, regardless. That being that the reinforced concrete structure of this building is similar to that of a steel skeleton insofar as the way it transmits forces and allows for a soaring tower on a small footprint.
