432 Park Avenue Lights Up the Manhattan Night Sky
Quote:
There are more bright lights on the New York City skyline after the recent lighting ceremony at 432 Park Avenue. In a new tradition that will light up the Manhattan sky each night, the tallest residential skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere will be visible from all of the Five Boroughs.

It looks so pure and breathtaking in that last image. I can only imagine how that same angle will look like when the rest of the towers join the skyline.

This tower turned out extremely well. It's a shame the amounts of hate this tower receives, to me it's possibly my favourite 2016 scraper.
(I'm tired and it seems I've forgotten how to english,so sorry in case bad grammar happens)

I share the same opinion, I never understood why Rafael Viñoly had to apologize for this brave masterpiece, well I guess some people's taste is limited to painted precast and artificial windows sold as neo Art Deco.
Don't worry about your English mine is not perfect either, the forums are one of the best way to improve your English. The other alternative is music and cinema.

Voicing different tastes and opinions doesn't make someone invalid or erroneous. That I don't understand the degree some people love this tower doesn't give me cause to belittle their thoughts on the piece. Architecture remains partially an art, after all.

Cheers.

I'll say what I've been saying for quite some time now. Just like other people tent to use words such as atrocity for architecture that tends to look like art. End of the story. Call me sassy.

So it seems that they they can control the colors on the drum lights - I caught a couple of quick shots last night while they were apparently testing this... The lights all went back to white just after I snapped these...:

I hated it in the beginning, as I did the WTC Transportation Hub. But like the Transportation Hub, 432 has grown on me. I actually really like it now.
Maybe 2WTC won't be so bad.

Visited One World Observatory for the second time yesterday. There was a tour guide who was explaining different things and he said that this building was a building that most people wanted to know what it was called. Everyone sees it, since it is so tall, yet very few actually know its name. Does anyone know why this is? Here are also some pics I took.

And yes, the lit drums add soooo much more character to this building especially at night.

Probably because most people only know a few buildings by name in the entire world. The Pyramids, the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, The Great Wall of China, and the Leaning Tower of Pizza (but only if they can see it is leaning). Some people might know the Empire State Building. But show them the Chrysler Building and they might also call it the Empire State Building. Same thing with the US Capital Building and White House. They might kind of know the names but get them confused. That colorful onion dome building in Moscow? Yeah... no chance.

Basically, building names aren't a high priority for most people.

With that said, 432 Park is an astonishingly bad name. The only way it could be worse is if they named it like a part number. They could have named it "B-PA432-V1". Why not? It's about as good as 432 Park.

I wish this buildings official name was "The Drake". That would have been perfect.
